November Coalition Meeting

Coalition is defined as an "alliance formed for action."  Healthy Lamoille Valley is a coalition with the goals of reducing youth substance misuse and creating a healthy Lamoille Valley.  This is the action... the other key piece of the definition is the word Alliance... it's not just one person or organization , but many coming together!  Healthy Lamoille Valley needs YOU to be a part of our coalition to work together to create a healthier community!

Please mark your calendars and plan to come to the kickoff meeting of our new coalition format... Healthy Lamoille Valley will meet on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:00-7:00pm.  The format of these meetings will include: Introductions, announcements, a short topic presentation, and then an action discussion on how we can work together to address that topic.

Our 11/3 meeting will feature two topics: a look at the newly released local 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey trends and explore ways for you to be involved in the Healthy Lamoille Valley Coalition! Also highlighted during the announcements will be our 2020 Prevention Honors Awards and Photovoice Submissions.  Please register in advance for this meeting here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

NEW! Community Toolkit

Look out for the launch of our new and updated prevention primer, Community Planning Toolkit: Preventing Youth Substance Misuse and Building Protective Factors. It is a planning guide focusing on reducing youth misuse of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and prescription drugs, while supporting efforts to help youth make healthy substance-free choices. This Toolkit is designed to help support those working to create healthy communities and to take some of the guesswork out of the process. The focus is on a systems and policy level intervention.

Planning resources are provided to create policies that use a substance prevention lens to help build healthy communities and reduce youth substance misuse. This Toolkit can be used as part of town or organizational planning processes or as a stand alone resource to support healthy community and policy development. Survey and Raffle for
Volunteer Youth Coaches and Administrators

Healthy Lamoille Valley (HLV) in collaboration with the HLV Youth Sports Workgroup, seeks the input from all volunteer leaders, coaches, parents and interested community members of youth sports.

We received a grant to assess the training needs of volunteer youth coaches and administrators across the Lamoille Valley to help support their roles as protective factors in the lives of their players while also helping to sustain our youth sports programs into the future. Even if you are not currently a coach, and you think that you might consider coaching in the future, we want to hear from you, too.  Read more: www.healthylamoillevalley.org/coaches-survey.
