Some days the work I need to do goes smoothly. Other days, not at all. Planning helps make my day easier.

In this edition I'll share one thing you can plan today, an interesting article about tedious tasks, and a few interesting links as well as recent blog posts.

Ready? Let's go!

One thing

Are you are keeping up with upcoming important dates for your business? I think it's crucial to double check dates this year! With supply line and work disruptions due to COVID-19 (and climate change weather changes), leave extra time!
  • Double check shipping deadlines for the December holiday season. As you calculate what that means for your business, do you have the supplies you need--before you need them? Also, Chanukah begins the night of December 10th this year.
  • Are you prepared for taxes? Your state's website should have a list of key dates. For example, New York maintains a calendar on their website, tax.ny.gov.
  • And don't forget to plan time to vote!

Of Interest

Is it possible to focus while completing tedious tasks? Like Eyal, I believe it is. How? He believes it's by finding the mystery and discovering novel solutions to old problems. I think it's in finding balance to my day. A repetitive task that doesn't require me to pay close attention to complete it correctly allows my brain to both rest and ponder. Mowing the lawn, knitting stockinette by hand, and a long-distance run are all tasks that can be tedious, but they are also refreshing. At the end not only can I say I completed a certain task, but it also allows my brain to wander and solve other problems. I like to schedule types of tasks with time blocking, more on that method in a future newsletter.
