PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome to Fall!

Fall is a favorite time for many in the Valley - temperatures are finally dropping, pumpkin flavor is back in the spotlight, and typically it’s a time for fun fall events. Unfortunately, many local events have been cancelled, but the good news is that JLP is still able to offer two family-friendly events - Phoenix Food Day & HealthFest and Touch-A-Truck. We are excited to still bring these opportunities to the community in a safe way this year by having both events move to a drive-thru format.

Phoenix Food Day & Healthfest is on Oct. 10 at Cartwright Community Garden. We are excited to partner again with the City of Phoenix to bring the city’s largest free health and wellness event. Attendees can sign up for a time slot to drive through and pick up a goody bag full of wonderful items and a food box if needed.

The 8th Annual Touch-A-Truck (Drive-Thru) is Nov. 7 at Paradise Valley Mall. Tickets are available now for designated time slots from 9 am – 3 pm, a carload for $25! Know someone with a fall birthday? We even have drive-through birthday parties available. Check out all the details, including sponsorship opportunities at: https://www.jlp.org/touch-a-truck/

I am proud of our JLP leaders and committee members for not giving up, but instead getting creative, trying new things, and continuing to make an impact. Our members have been volunteering safely at Harvest Compassion Center, Borderlands Produce Rescue and St. Mary’s Food Bank, as well as virtual shifts for the United Way. We have also held virtual training events, meetings, and social activities, trying our best to stay connected.

We continue to find new ways to fundraise during COVID and have already hosted two fantastic virtual fundraisers: our Bingo event and Cookie Decorating event. More events are on the horizon! Stay tuned for all the fantastic things we are planning this year.

Always remember to check out JLP.org for information about what we are doing and how you can support our efforts.

Fondly,

Jennie Elser
President 2020-2022

COMMUNITY NEWS

JLP Past Partner Ryan House is
Celebrating 10 years!

Ten years ago, Ryan House opened its doors in Phoenix with JLP as a founding partner. We were thrilled to celebrate their anniversary through a virtual community breakfast on Aug. 28.

"Ryan House means so much to so many, including Junior League of Phoenix. We are proud to be a founding partner of Ryan House. I fondly remember selling Care Cards many years ago to help raise funds and learning about the plans for Ryan House. Congratulations on 10 incredible years of compassion and thank you for the support, peace and care you provide for families," said Jennie Elser, JLP President 2020-2022.

Learn more about Ryan House's anniversary celebration plans here.

Healthfest is just 5 days away!

JLP Healthfest is back this year in partnership with City of Phoenix’s 8th Annual Food Day!

Download and share the flyers here.

Members of the community can register for a pick-up time here to drive up and collect a goody bag. The bags will be filled with information on health and wellness, including physical activities for children, gardening demos, health vouchers, food baskets, and cooking recipes.
