Justice Seekers - Bi-Monthly

As I worked on this newsletter this litany from the book Every Moment Holy kept springing to mind:

In a world so wired and interconnected,
our anxious hearts are pummeled by
an endless barrage of troubling news.
We are daily aware of more grief, O Lord,
than we can rightly consider,
of more suffering and scandal than we can respond to,
of more hostility, hatred, horror, and injustice
than we can engage with compassion.

But you, O Jesus, are not disquieted
by such news of cruelty and terror and war.
You are neither anxious nor overwhelmed.
You carried the full weight of the suffering
of a broken world when you hung upon the cross,
and you carry it still.

As the Communications Coordinator for the Center for Public Dialogue I sometimes worry about how many important needs we send to your social media screens and email inboxes.  The volume of issues we're all being 'pummeled by' right now is astounding.  So it comes as a relief that to be reminded that justice was never dependant on us.  So from the bottom of my heart I thank you for reading this newsletter, engaging with advocacy, and joining in the redemptive work that God is already doing.

The campaign is calling on the Government of Canada to do what is legally and morally required to uphold and protect the rights of people experiencing poverty.
