COVID-19 ENCOURAGING DATA, EXPANDED EARLY VOTING & EASY ABSENTEE VOTING
We all continue to deal with the effects of COVID-19, but I want to highlight the promising downward trends we're seeing in coronavirus cases in Fulton County. We have made tremendous progress over the past few months. With more businesses re-opening and many schools resuming face-to-face education, it is critical to continue to respect the dangers of the virus and for everyone to do their part to reduce the spread of COVID so that the current positive trends we are seeing continue.

Many are certainly focused on the important November 3, 2020 elections. Fulton County has taken great strides to make Early Voting available in many more convenient locations and simplify the Absentee Voting process.
LATEST COVID-19 STATS PROMISING

Every day, our Fulton County team is tracking data from many resources. It is greatly encouraging to see the number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths in Fulton County show a steady and very promising decline over the past several weeks. It indicates that the actions of citizens and our public health focus of testing and tracing are working.

The 7-day average for % positive tests has fallen from a July high of 16% to 3.8%, and new cases have fallen such that the 14-day incident rate (cases per 100k) fell below 100 this week from a high of 426 in July. Hospitalizations have dropped, and the 7-day average for deaths has dropped from a high of 7.6 per day to 1. These numbers and trends are substantively better than the state of Georgia overall numbers, as well as those of other comparable metro counties around the country.

Fulton County government remains committed to a robust public health response and continues to emphasize testing and exercising responsible personal and organizational behavior. We will continue to have a strong response to COVID and adapt our strategies and tactics, as the challenges associated with COVID evolve and change.

I will close by saying it has been an honor to serve you since I was first elected in 2014.  My focus since you elected me has been on being your voice and working steadfastly to make Fulton County government more responsive to you.

During that time Fulton has made significant strides in becoming more transparent, more impactful for citizens, and more fiscally responsible. Tangible results of that include six straight years of reduced millage rates, doubled reserve requirements, significant new homestead exemptions all while making significant investments in improving county services and infrastructure.

More needs to be done and I promise to work to continue pursuing the goals we have set out to accomplish and be responsive to you.

I would be honored to continue to serve you for another four years and humbly ask for your vote.

Thank you for your continued support.

Commissioner Bob Ellis
