LEHS Weekly Informational Letter
October 5, 2020

Dear LEHS Community,

COVID-19 has impacted all of us in a variety of ways, however it seems that we have only focussed on the negative impacts of COVID in our lives.  I wanted to take a minute and discuss how COVID has impacted Logan Elm.

  • All students have ChromeBooks
  • All students have access to course material, syllabi, notes, reviews, quizzes, etc. in 1 place, Google Classroom.
  • All students are learning how to communicate through email professionally in lieu of texting, snapping, tweeting, etc.
  • All parents have the ability to sign up for Guardian Summaries through Classroom.  Email your child’s teacher and you will receive a weekly email of assignments your child has or has not completed during the week.
  • All teachers are now prepared for remote learning.
  • All of us have now become more flexible to meet the needs of our children.

All too often we discuss the negative and we need to work hard at changing this narrative.  Our building staff, kids, and community are doing great things!  We need to do a better job of sharing these positives and changing the narrative to “what we do” on a regular basis.  I will be challenging our staff to sharing these positives through our #BeaBrave theme and promoting the great things going on within our building.

I'll start-  Every single day Terry Holbert, 9th grade History, begins his lesson with a bell ringer revolving around having a Positive Mindset. #Beabrave

Have a great week!

Nate Smith

Classwork
Contact your teacher and ask to be added as a guardian to Google Classroom and that you would like to receive Guardian Summaries for your child.  All of our emails are firstname.lastname@loganelm.org

Senior Student’s of the Month
The tradition for many years has been to escort our student’s of the month to the noon Rotary meeting.  Noon Rotary is not currently meeting in person, so we made the decision to have a “Lunch and Learn” with our seniors.  Our seniors have lunch with our office staff and we discuss how Logan Elm has impacted them, what they like about LE, what they would like to change about LE, and what their plans are for 5 years down the road.  Needless to say, we have great kids and our conversations have been amazing!

Online tickets
We have moved to online ticketing for our athletic events for the 20-21 school year.  Tickets are available to families first, and tickets are opened up to “General Admission” on the day of the event.  We are only able to sell tickets up to 15% of our maximum capacity.  You can purchase tickets on our website at https://www.loganelm.org/EventTickets.aspx

Infinite Campus
You must register for an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to update your child’s records for this school year.  We will not have paper copies sent home for this annual process, you must do this online through the “Online Registration” tab.  You can track your child’s grades, get assignment alerts, new grade alerts, view their fees, schedule, attendance, daily announcements, etc.  You will need to contact Mr. Dan Hugus or myself to receive an access code.  nate.smith@loganelm.org or dan.hugus@loganelm.org
