COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

The Terrorium Shop
Where Preservation and Beauty Collide

Amber Hage-Ali and Ian Johnson, the founders of The Terrorium Shop, began creating terrariums, mini-worlds and preservation crafts years before they began selling their uncommon creations at markets around the city. After a couple of years on the market-circuit, they wanted a more permanent home — a place to settle into a neighborhood and build a community. After scouring North Denver and River North for potential locations, they nestled their shop in our cozy Regis neighborhood and opened for business on May 42019.

The Terrorium Shop is no ordinary corner store. It offers handmade products, services and classes that can’t be found anyplace else — from plant-scape design services for private homes and businesses to flowers for special events and classes that feature insect pinning and taxidermy.

The Terrorium Shop’s transparent ethics policy ensures that “every piece is made with intention” and respect. “Our goal is to honor nature not take advantage of it,” Amber said. Through their business, she and Ian get to bring a piece of the Colorado mountains to the city. “Nature is critically important to our lives, and also a privilege. We want to make nature more accessible to more people,” Amber adds.

Interested in learning more about The Terrorium Shop? Browse their website, visit their shop at 3611 W. 49th Ave., or register for a one-of-a-kind class.
