Webinar Recordings Available

Since the beginning of lockdown we have been running regular zoom webinars on a range of issues around giving and stewardship. It has been a difficult time for many parishes who have been struggling with loss of income and cancellation of many events which would usually bring in significant income. The  webinars were designed to support parishes and offer advice on regular giving, setting up online giving and virtual fundraising, stewardship programmes, communicating the need, legacies and more. All 12 of our webinars were recorded and are available on the diocese website HERE for you to watch.

Thank you to all those who attended, especially our regulars! We do hope that you found the sessions helpful.

We will be running one more webinar this year on Nov 19th, looking at Friends groups and community support. We would love you to come along and share your stories and experiences of friends groups. The details can be found below. We also hope to continue in 2021 and would love to hear your suggestions for future webinar subjects.

Meet the Funders 2020

We are currently half way through our series of "Meet the Funders" workshops for 2020 in partnership with transformation Cornwall. This year we have a series of 4 workshops delivered through zoom webinars. The workshops are followed by "surgeries" which give you a chance to come back with more in depth questions.

These workshops are designed to lead you through the process of developing your project, engaging your community and applying for funding. At the final workshop a range of key funders have been invited and will be there to tell you more about their funding programmes. Click HERE for more details of future workshops and their registration links, together with recordings of past workshops for you to watch.

Parish Giving Review Survey

Thank you very much to all those who completed the survey we sent out a few weeks ago. It was very informative and has helped  our planning for 2021 and beyond. The results and recommendations are now available to read HERE

Funding sources

The Parish Giving Review survey highlighted that many people were unaware of the Church Grants website which we are registered with as a diocese. Church Grants is a search engine for grant funding designed specifically for churches to access relevant grants which will fund church and faith based projects. You can access church grants HERE. You will also need your parish reference number. If you don't know this already please email us and we will send it to you.

Ecclesiastical have also produced some excellent top tips for fundraising during Covid-19 and beyond including a list of potential funders. You can find this HERE

Finally have a look at the Transformation Cornwall website where you will find a list of funders for faith based social action projects and emergency funding during Covid-19. This is regularly updated as new grants become available. You can find this HERE

Sign up for Regular Giving!

The wise church built its ministry on the rock of regular giving.  We should all be making this a priority moving forward into 2021, so joining PGS will be a good way to begin, especially as our congregations are not returning fully to church.  More information can be found here or contact Christine or Liz.

CMD Training "The World in which we Give: Teaching and Preaching on Generosity "

We would like to encourage all clergy to come to the CMD training on Tues, Oct 13th 9.30-12.30. If this is not you please encourage clergy from your parish to attend. To book a place please click HERE

We have some fantastic engaging speakers lined up: Revd Steve Pierce, the Learning and Stewardship Director at Liverpool Diocese, Sammi Tooze, Giving advisor from York Diocese, and Helen Simpkiss, Regional Giving advisor from the National giving team. The following gives you an idea of what their sessions will cover:

Steve Pierce: Stewardship Sunday? Let’s get a guest preacher! But our annual giving sermon, if we have one, is up against maybe 5,000 consumer ads every day. This session will explore a little of the context of our stewardship preaching and some biblical themes and understands preaching as one of the ‘sacralising frames’ that form our personal and shared discipleship in response to the generosity of God.

Sammi Tooze:  Through a series of top tips, Sammi will be exploring the way that we communicate about generosity. The session will look at the way that we use language to talk about giving, how that shapes our message, and how that message is then interpreted. We will also explore worship as a teaching tool, culture through attitudes and practice, and teaching about the joy of giving.

Helen Simpkiss:  An overview of the National Giving Strategy and the Building a Generous Church Model, which sets out the key aspects of improving a church’s giving practice and generous culture. I’ll talk through each of the building blocks briefly and then some practical things that clergy can engage with.
