I suppose we all have some kind of quirks to our personality. I have many. One of my personality disorders has always been that I like to have a clean vehicle.  When I was a boy, I liked to keep my bicycle clean.  When I graduated to motorcycles, I relentlessly washed my Honda 175 Scrambler. And when I finally got a car, a week never went by that I did not wash it.  I have now moved on to the monthly pass at one of the local car wash establishments but back in the day I would wash, vacuum, and shine my car and my wife’s car every Saturday morning.  It was a ritual.

And I noticed something. When I would get my car nice and clean, I would do everything I could to avoid getting it dirty again.  I would go around mud puddles. I would avoid dusty dirt roads. I would cringe if it started to rain. I don’t really know why it bothered me because I was going to go thru the same ritual again the very next Saturday morning. But my goal was for the car to stay as clean as possible for as long as possible.

What if I was that diligent about my spiritual life? What if I was so committed to avoiding the pitfalls and mud pits of life that I did everything possible to keep from getting my spirit dirty again.  Sure, you can always confess your sin and He will hear you and forgive you. But what if we did absolutely everything possible to avoid falling into the trap of sin to begin with?

Think about it.

Here is a word from the Word:

“The Lord detests the way of the wicked, but He loves the one who pursues righteousness.” (Proverbs 15:9)

“Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God.” (Colossians 3:2-3)

Have a great Tuesday!
