Sometimes words are not enough... Adults have a tendency to first want to put their thoughts and feelings into words. Kids, on the other hand, can teach us a lot about creative ways to expression.
Children often naturally express themselves through play and other creative pursuits. Together, you can identify small chunks of time, such as 10-15 minutes, to put down their device. Next, identify what interests your kids want to develop. Maybe your child loves to write, run, paint, dance, etc. Finally, look for ideas for activities or projects that incorporate your child’s interest and try some of them out.
How you and your family spend your time also determines how you don't spend your time. Talking as a family about your values and your preferred ways to play will give you clues as to what meaningful moments may look like for each of you. What you decide to do with this information is up to you!
