October is Manufacturing Month -- Join In!

Manufacturing Month is here! It officially launched on Friday, October 2nd with Manufacturing Day 2020, but events are occurring throughout the month. It’s an excellent opportunity to show off the innovative and successful manufacturing enterprises in Montana and build awareness of the career opportunities offered in this sector.

Here are just a few highlights from the first week of Manufacturing Month:

  • On October 1, MMEC Director Paddy Fleming and Advisory Board members appeared on the Voices of Montana radio show of the National Broadcasting System.  Neal Blossom of American Chemet, Amanda Markle of Red Oxx and Daniel Pollard with Bridger Brewing Co joined in to discuss the future of Montana's manufacturing workforce. The broadcast streams on the NBS Voices of Montana Program Archive Page (segment is titled Thursday [Oct. 1] Part 1).
  • Dean’s Zesty Booch created and premiered a new manufacturing day video, showcasing the production process for its Kombucha beverages.  You can watch the video on the MMEC Facebook page.
  • Butte Local Development Corporation (BLDC) is highlighting manufacturing businesses in the Butte-Silver Bow area with business profiles about companies like Headframe Stills and Continental Steel Works on its BLDC Facebook page. Montana Standard also published a feature article on manufacturing in the Butte area.
It’s not too late to join in and participate in Manufacturing Month activities. Need ideas?
  • The MFGday.com website (now called CreatorsWanted.org)  is an excellent first step. Just register and download materials, planning guides (such as the MFG Day 2020 Host Toolkit), and pre-made promotional items.
  • The MMEC website offers a Manufacturing Day 2020 webpage, loaded with additional ideas and resources.
  • Check out the list of upcoming virtual Manufacturing Month Events from around the nation in the graphic below.
