Coronation Centre: October Update
We are not quite there yet
Coronation members are going to have to wait a little longer for our doors to reopen. With the increasing number of cases of COVID 19, there seems little doubt that we’re in the midst of the so-called second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, we do not feel ready to safely resume our programs. We understand this is hard on all of us and we miss you greatly. Please continue to stay safe and well and know that we can't wait to see you soon.

We are delighted to offer Book Club back to Coronation. The wonderful Carrie Bosco, Customer Service Librarian, from the Niagara Falls Public Library facilitates our meetings. The next book is called 'Still Lives' by Maria Hummel. Book Club will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 2:30pm.  At this time, we do not know if this will be held at Coronation or virtually. To order your book please email Hanya at hnagy@niagarafalls.ca. Books will be available to pick up outside Coronation. Details will be emailed to you.
Heartland Forest - Introducing their Nature Video Series and Sunshine Wellness Program

Heartland Forest is producing a series of seasonal videos to share with vulnerable populations facing restricted access to nature. Whether images or the real deal, nature scenes give us a visually-rich stimulus that nourishes the brain and provides health benefits too.  There are documented benefits of viewing nature in an indoor setting and to have it local and familiar, makes these videos unique.

Heartland Forest -Sunshine Wellness Program
The COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing has made isolation an even greater risk to our senior population and is having a debilitating effect on their mental wellbeing. Many seniors have no family to call or visit them. For others, their families live far away making visits challenging.
Do you know of a senior who could benefit from the 'Sunshine Wellness' Program? Please call 905-356-7384 ext. 110

This project is funded by The Government of Canada
The primary goal of this project is to provide seniors, whether they are living at home, in complexes, or in long-term care, with personalized moral support and wellness checks by phone. The phone calls may include:
- Community referral information to ensure that senior’s needs are met.
- Arranging delivery of hygiene products, masks and hand sanitizer.
- Educational training in disease prevention, use of PPE  and preparing for transition after social distancing restrictions are lifted.
The dedicated team at Heartland Forest can assist a senior to stay connected to their community and enjoy some friendly ‘phone company’. Do you know a senior who could benefit from this program?  (All information kept confidential)
Edmonton Seniors Centre
Virtual Health and Wellness Conference
Oct 23 & 24

Edmonton I hear you say? Listen, if we drove there it would only take 1 day, 11 hours and 6 minutes. Who's in? Fortunately, we don't need to drive anywhere to be a part of the Edmonton Seniors Centre Virtual Health & Wellness Conference. Not all of the information will be applicable to us folks in Niagara Falls but there are some rather interesting topics and speakers where we can access the latest information and resources. Our friends at the ECS are looking forward to meeting us. Click here to see the program Guide  Click here to register and take a look at the event schedule.
