Love Stockton is looking for some volunteers for a socially distanced project in October. The project is supporting PUENTES, the community farm at Boggs Tract. Puentes has a grant requirement to plant a certain number of young oak trees, approximately 300, that they have grown on the farm. They are hoping to work with us to allow volunteers to plant the trees in Stockton city parks on October 24th. This, of course, will be done in a socially distanced fashion.
Love Stockton would like groups of 2-3 volunteers from the same household to work together to avoid interaction with others that they are not already exposed to. The farm staff would provide instruction and materials.
Volunteers should wear gloves and masks and be ready to get into the dirt. Volunteers will be digging the holes, making a little berm around it, adding fertilizer pellets, and setting the trees into the ground, and staking them, which is a good activity for 2-3 people for each tree. Parks will be assigned prior to October 24th and trees will be provided the morning of, at the designated parks. All parks will be marked for the location of tree planting, grass will be spray painted, and a map provided. Puentes has estimated an approximate time of 45 minutes per tree, to plant, from start to finish. Each family or group will be provided 3 trees. The trees are 5-gallon trees.
Date / Time Saturday, October 24th, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
What is Needed: Gloves, Shovels, drinking water, Masks, and Hand sanitizer.
What is not available: Bathrooms
What is provided: Trees will be delivered to the parks. A recommended planting instruction video will be available via email. Each park will have a representative from Puentes in attendance.

L I K E M E RISE STUDENT MINISTRIES SERIES LIKE ME will continue on October 11th at 4:30 p.m. over Zoom!
We all have a tendency to compare ourselves to others. In this series, we'll discover that comparison not only keeps us from liking others, it holds us back from being able to like ourselves. The further we move away from comparison and toward contentment, the more we'll be able to love who we are just as we are!
Contact Dena Greeno (educator7@gmail.com) for the Zoom information.
