END OF SUMMER 2020 UPDATE:

DONATE
Dear supporters,

On behalf of EdPowerment's Board and the students whose lives have changed because of you, thank you for your financial support over the past 10 years.  In 2010 EdPowerment became a 501c-3 with the specific mission to help vulnerable youth shut out of formal schooling in these impoverished villages.

This year we were hoping to bring one or more of our sponsored students to the U.S. to help us celebrate our 10 years, but the COVID pandemic not only prevented these events - it posed a new set of funding and programmatic challenges.  We are particularly grateful to those who contributed in special ways during this time.

As of this fall, we have over 20 students in college and universities, including two who are pursuing medical degrees (we now have graduated two doctors), two pursuing legal degrees and our first Masters degree candidate. We are committed to providing all that these students need to successfully complete their studies and transition to the workforce.

Asanteni sana.  We are grateful for all that you have made possible.

Our Form 6 grads deliver strong results in the Tanzanian National Exams.

Mary K., August and Flora are this year's Advanced Level High School graduates.  Their strong results on the all-important National Exams will secure their placement in Universities this fall.  Mary K., also pictured bottom left with Sponsorship Manager, Mary M., scored 7 points, nearly the top score possible. Pictured right is August at his home with our faithful driver/mentor, Jacob Assenga, standing far right.  Both Mary K. and August seek engineering majors, while Flora hopes to pursue a degree in a management field.  Having completed their applications, they now await university acceptances.

Redempter, Kelvin and Mary are our 3 College (similar to community colleges in the U.S.) students, in agricultural and husbandry programs.  Kelvin hopes that his outstanding grades will allow him to transition to a University Degree program in Animal Sciences.  Mary's Diploma in General Agriculture will help her find employment and eventually maybe start her own business in this community's predominant industry.
Florian Mallya, once a Sponsored Student and now a Civics and Geography Teacher at the KIWOCE Open School, leads the revival of the Center's agricultural program.  Crop production with student instruction has resumed, as well as a new rabbit project.
Thanks to a special donation during the COVID peak, EdPowerment was able to fund wash stations at KIWOCE Open School.  The School has been a major source of health and safety practices information, as well as a model for the community and surrounding schools.
