Those of us in regional Victoria are very lucky to be able to start spending more time outdoors as restrictions ease and the weather gets warmer!

There are so many accessible ways to explore the great outdoors and our beautiful national parks - so this month let's learn all about accessible park experiences with Parks Victoria.

Parks Victoria

Did you know Parks Victoria has many popular inclusive activities in parks across the state? From day trips to weekends away there is something for people of all abilities to get outdoors, explore and connect with nature.

Some parks and reserves are currently closed to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Visitors to those open parks and reserves are reminded of the public health measures in place across regional Victoria, including physical distancing, the wearing of face masks, and that there are only four reasons for leaving home until further notice from the DHHS

All abilities access for friendly park experiences

Parks Victoria offers plenty of popular and inclusive recreational activities in parks, from canoeing using an accessible canoe launcher to bushwalking with an all-terrain wheelchair, the TrailRider.

Dandenong Ranges National Park

Get into nature with an all-terrain TrailRider wheelchair in the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Use a TrailRider to explore the magical Mountain Ash trees and tree ferns of Dandenong Ranges National Park.

The TrailRider is free to hire and is available at Grants Picnic Ground, Kallista.

Grampians National Park

Get into nature on the all-abilities walks and TrailRider trails in the Grampians National Park. Choose from a range of all abilities walks or try some more challenging walks with an all-terrain TrailRider wheelchair.

There are a range of walks to choose from, listed in the Grampians National Park All Abilities Walk Track and TrailRider Guide.

Wilsons Promontory National Park

Stay at the beautiful Tidal River at Wilsons Promontory National Park. There are many all abilities options and resources available. Tidal River campground has some powered campsite, and unisex accessible toilets and showers are also available.

There is an accessible unit and two accessible cabins at Tidal River. A range of bathroom equipment and supportive seating is available to make your stay more comfortable. The equipment is free to hire.

Beach Wheelchair at Wilsons Promontory National Park

Visit the beautiful all abilities accessible Norman Beach at Wilsons Promontory National Park. Explore the scenic Norman Beach at Tidal River in a beach wheelchair at low tide. You can hire a beach wheelchair for free from the Tidal River Visitor Centre.

There is a range of beach wheelchairs suitable for children and adults. Visitors in wheelchairs can also explore Tidal River on the beautiful all abilities Loo-Errn track.

Kings Billabong Park

Get into nature at Kings Billabong Park and view the range of native water birds and other wildlife in a canoe or kayak. The all-accessible floating pontoon and canoe launcher are located at Psyche Bend.

The canoe launcher is designed for recreational canoes and kayaks and allows safe and easy access to the water for canoeists of all abilities.

Point Nepean National Park

Explore some of Victoria's earliest European history at Point Nepean National Park. Visit the heritage-listed Quarantine Station at Point Nepean National Park — there are all abilities paths and accessible amenities in this area of the park and surrounding bushland.

Visitors can also hire beach wheelchairs to access the bay beach area adjacent to the Quarantine Station.
