We’re urging residents who are struggling to pay their rent to get in touch for support and advice.

The government’s extended ban on evicting people who rent their homes ended on 20 September with landlords still required to give six months’ notice to any tenants they want to evict.

Cornwall’s Social and Supported Housing landlords, which include Coastline HousingCornwall Council/Cornwall Housing LtdLiveWest and Ocean Housing, have said that no-one will be evicted from their homes as a result of financial hardship caused by coronavirus as long as they are working with their landlord to get their payments back on track.  If you haven’t already, we urge you to get in touch with your landlord now if you are having difficulties paying your rent, as the earlier everyone starts talking the easier it is to resolve problems.

If you are one of the one in five households who rent your home from a private landlord and are worried about being evicted, do get in touch with Cornwall Housing’s Prevention and Engagement Team at www.cornwallhousing.org.uk or by calling 0300 1234 161 now so we can work with you and your landlord to help find a solution.

If you are struggling to pay your Council Tax, there is support available and the Council can help you if you have been affected. Follow this link to find out more.

Get planting

With leaves starting to fall and temperatures cooling, nows the time for foraging. Between now and mid-October is prime seed-gathering time! With this in mind, Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Cornwall Council have partnered up to launch a county-wide autumn seed search asking people to collect, grow and plant tree seeds in Cornwall.
