Election 2020: Ballot Measure Rundown

Tuesday, October 13, 2020
7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

(by Zoom video conference - REGISTER NOW)

With so much noise around this Presidential election, you'd be forgiven for not being as up-to-speed on the nuances of the ballot measures up for a vote this year as you might like to be. Don't sweat -- your neighbors have got you covered.

At our October Meeting next week, we'll be joined by a representative from the League of Women Voters who will help us better understand the various ballot measures during our second Election 2020 Forum.

Be sure to register, and you'll receive a personalized link to join the meeting.

Great Discussion with our Oakland City Council Candidates!

Thanks to all of the neighbors, including our friends from Santa Fe and Golden Gate, who logged-in to our first Election 2020 Forum last month. We had an insightful conversation with each of the three candidates running to represent our part of Oakland on City Council on hyper-local issues based entirely on questions submitted by neighbors.

If you weren't able to join us, check out the video before you cast your ballot to hear what the candidates had to say.

Black Lives Matter

Confronting Racial Profiling

On Saturday, September 26, LCA was pleased to partner with Neighbors for Racial Justice (N4RJ) to host their presentation about confronting racial profiling. We are all tremendously grateful to those neighbors who joined us for this presentation and the raw, personal, generous and respectful dialogue that followed.

Confronting racism must be a sustained effort. It's clear from this discussion that our neighbors have a strong desire to dive deeper into confronting racism, and the LCA Board will continue to explore how we can best support neighbors in doing that work. Your thoughts and suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks again to our friends and neighbors with N4RJ for providing this presentation at no cost to our community. Please consider supporting N4RJ's all-volunteer activities.

We'll hear more about the City's plans for repaving (and associated reconfiguration) of West Street through our neighborhood and have the opportunity to provide feedback directly to the planning team. Details to follow!
