Touchdown! Football is back and Thanksgiving is around the corner. That means that 2020 is almost to a close and not a minute too soon! In some ways it feels like the longest year…and yet, a short year at the same time.

Although we have not been able to meet in person, our virtual calls and book club have allowed many to connect and stay together. We would love to have you join us! There are always a few new friends each call. Our virtual Founder’s Day included collegians, new graduates and a smattering of all ages and stages.

We shared videos from the national organization and the ASU Pi Zeta Chapter, as we virtually toured their house and saw all the new décor – stunning!

Friendsgiving Virtual meeting is November 18th at 6:30 PM. Feel free to bring your wine, share a dessert and let’s talk a little turkey! We can laugh and share some thankful tidbits! I’d like to share a few with you now….I am thankful for…
  • Elastic waistbands
  • Family and friends
  • Caller ID to avoid certain family and friends!
  • Football – go Cardinals!
  • And each of you!
Warmly,
Lee Ann Witt, president@deltazetaphoenix.com

Our Pi Zeta Chapter at ASU News

Phoenix Delta Zeta alumnae chapter gave each Pi Zeta living in the house a cute pink & green key chain. Pictured is the Thank You note from the chapter. The Annual Turtle Draw looked a little different this year (as does everything). The PZ House Manager and Lorna Green, alumnae advisor attended 2 zoom New Member meetings to explain the reason for the Turtle Draw. Then, instead of drawing numbers, we asked for the girls to commit to living in GLV by posting on a sight Sydney (the House Manager) set up. We needed 40 girls to commit and so far, have near that number. That is really pretty good since they have not been allowed to even go into the house!

As you have all probably heard, all in-person classes will be finished in time for the students to go home for Thanksgiving and stay there until the start of the Spring semester. There meetings and classes are mostly via zoom as well.
Philanthropy Opportunity
As an optional philanthropy, Delta Zeta alumnae and collegians donate teddy bears and or other stuffed animals through Phoenix Panhellenic Assosciation for Mighty Change of Heart. Their main focus is supporting foster children and kinship children in Arizona any way they can. There are over 15,500 foster children currently in the system and more are added every day. And while there are many great foster parents out there providing loving homes for these children, State support and resources can often be limited. When a child enters the system, they often take very little if anything with them in terms of worldly possessions and relying on foster families to make up the difference, which can cause unnecessary financial strain. This is where A Mighty Change of Heart begins. The stuffed animals are given to these children within a bag filled with other items including clothing, books and probably their first possessions. Our 12 to 24 inch stuffed teddy bears or other animals are an important aspect of the bag they take to their new home. Please bring bears to our Holiday at the Park on December 13 or donate directly at: https://www.amchaz.org/
