A classic table grace uses these simple words: “Be present at our table, Lord; Be here and ev’rywhere adored; Thy creatures bless, and grant that we May feast in paradise with Thee” (LSB 775). The plural pronoun “we” used in the prayer reminds us of the fact that we are together in the Lord’s house and together at the Lord’s Table. Our worship here is not a solo experience but rather is experienced in community. Joyfully we celebrate God’s service to us—together!
For those who watch Faith Lutheran's worship service from home, we invite you to come for a drive-thru communion at Faith’s parking lot from 10:15-11:00 AM on the first and third Sunday of each month. Cars may line up for communion at the end of the walkway between the two large palm trees.

The next drive-thru Communion will be on October 18, 2020.
OLD TESTAMENT READING  Isaiah 25:6-9   (The Lord will bring salvation to His people.)
On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines.  On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations;  he will swallow up death forever.  The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth.  The Lord has spoken.  In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us.  This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

 
EPISTLE READING   Philippians 4:4-13    (Encouragement for joyful Christian living.)
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.  10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

 
GOSPEL READING     Matthew 22:1-14  (The parable of the wedding feast.)
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.  “Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’  “But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.  “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ 10 So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.  11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.  13 “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’  14 “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

Sign up today for a live, online Bible on the book of Psalms with Pastor Wenz. We will be using Zoom to meet on Thursdays at 11:00 AM. Computer or smart phone required. Saturday October 24th
6:00 - 8:00 PM
Cars will line up in the parking lot for free candy, community information and gifts. 
Drive-in style "Jesus Movie" and info will be playing during event!
Bring canned goods for the pantry, and get a free pumpkin! (while supplies last)  
We need volunteers for booths to hand out items and to decorate their cars to hand out candy.  Candy donations can be dropped off at the church office on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays before Oct. 24th. We thank you for your help!

The next LWML meeting will be held on October 17th at 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall.
Please enter through the main door next to the Office. We will be doing temperature checks before entering, wear your masks, no food or drinks provided however feel free to bring your own. We will be social distancing and there will be areas closed including the kitchen. Looking forward to seeing everybody there!
The worldwide pandemic is causing major disruptions unlike anything the modern world has experienced. We are all struggling with major disruptions and changes to our lives. The church, just like our personal situations, continues to have fixed operating expenses that need to be paid. We depend heavily on the Easter season's higher attendance and extra services to build a cushion to cover the lower offering months.  Also, we are missing income from the groups that utilize the church's facilities.  Without regular services and the offering plate, it will be a challenge to meet expenses.  Although our services have been canceled, please remember to support Faith with your offerings.  Please consider:
  • Mailing your gift to the church using the offering envelope.
  • Consider signing up for automatic offerings. You can transfer your stewardship donations directly from your bank safely and conveniently.  This helps you plan and fulfill your stewardship commitments in a timely manner and  eliminate the time and cost of writing checks.  Many of your fellow church members have used this method for 10 years and there have never been any problems.
