NOVEMBER 2020

CONGRATULATIONS MELBOURNE

Hello everyone!

How are you doing? With the Victorian lockdown being lifted this week we are loving the excited buzz in the air as restaurants and retail stores open up again. It's as if a giant weight has been lifted off our collective shoulders.

While it will be a few weeks before gyms are fully open again, this month we are looking at exercising and hand therapy rehab at home. What are my essential pieces of exercise equipment? What handy household items can you use in lieu of specialised gym gear?

Our FREE educational webinars continue this month and cover the topics: Rheumatoid Arthritis and Managing Chronic Wrist Pain. All are welcome so please share the details with anyone that you feel might benefit from these sessions.

And finally, a reminder that all of our clinics are open for face-to-face visits for hands-on treatment. Telehealth video consultations and home visits have been very popular with the Melbourne Hand Rehab community and these services will continue on for everyone who prefers these sessions.

In this issue:
  • 3 essential pieces of home exercise equipment
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis and the SARAH exercise program
  • Free hand therapy online webinars
  • No gym? No problem! How to keep up with your wrist exercises at home

Welcome back, Melbourne.

MEET SARAH, YOUR HELPING HAND WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Do you have rheumatoid arthritis? If you do, or know someone who does, you may be interested to know that there is a new evidence-based exercise program called SARAH, which has been shown to improve hand function and reduce pain. This program is quick, easy and effective, but more on that later. First, let’s start at the basics.

What is rheumatoid arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition where the body’s own immune cells destroy healthy joint tissue, resulting in inflamed and sore joints. [Read more]

NO GYM? NO PROBLEM!

While Melbourne Hand Rehab have in-house gyms at our Werribee, Richmond, North Essendon and Mill Park clinics to help you achieve your hand therapy and fitness goals, nothing is more important than keeping up with your rehab at home.

There are many strength and mobility exercises that you can do that don't require specialised gym equipment. We've got a few great exercises that only require typical tools that you probably have available at home.
