Weekly Update - October 30, 2020


Dear Members and Friends of Our FLCC Community,

Pastor Daniel Goh and Pastor Sea Faa Chai are here!

Please welcome them to our community in the San Francisco Bay Area. For now, they are staying at a cottage for a couple of weeks while they wait for their one-bedroom apartment to open up. We will share more on how to contact them once they are set up at church.  In the upcoming weeks, they will be meeting with people and joining various activities to meet you. Please reach out to them, as they would very much like to connect with you too!
 

 
 
Online Sunday Services
 
Starting this Sunday, November 1st, services will start at 10:30 am for both congregations. We have adjusted our services to encourage live connectivity and fellowship, and to accommodate the different environments for both remote viewing and in-person attendance (available starting on November 29).

Dear friends, with seven months of COVID behind us and an incoming new season of pastoral team, please help us better understand how to continue ministering and caring for you by sharing your thoughts and feedback in this brief survey.

Praying for Healing
Mr. Siu Tong Yeung (Jacqueline Yeung's and Esther Chong's father) is having radiation treatments on his lung through November 4. Please pray for the growth on the right lung to shrink so that he can continue to take the chemotherapy pills instead!

Mr. Huan Xiang Lu (Thomas' grandfather and Annie's father) is currently home now from the hospital. Please continue to pray for his leukemia condition to improve so that a better treatment plan can be worked out.

The Joe family has found a caregiver and is able to bring Mrs. Sue Joe home on Monday! She still has a long road to recovery, as she is paralyzed on the right side and very weak, but she is able to respond to her family. Pastor Ken Joe and family are very thankful for your prayers and for their time with her. Please continue to pray for them.
FLCC Reopening Timeline at a Glance
 
** Starting this Sunday, November 1st, both services will begin at 10:30 am and will be simulcasted from two platforms (Chinese - YouTube. English - Facebook). **

- November 1, 10:30 am: Dry run. Pastor Sea Faa Chai will be introduced by Pastor John Au-Yeung and be installed in the Chinese service.

- November 8, 10:30 am: Dry run. Pastor Daniel Goh will be introduced by Pastors Stephen and David Lim and be installed in the English service. Ushers and Security teams return for in-person training.

- November 8, 1:00 pm: Full church Zoom meeting to communicate site plan, train, and share reopening details.

- November 15, 10:30 am: Dry run. Ushers and Security teams return for in-person training.

- November 22, 10:30 am: Thanksgiving Combined Service, with official Pastoral Installation and Thanksgiving program (live streamed).

- November 29, 10:30 am: Begin limited capacity in-person services for both Chinese and English congregations.  Alternatively, services will be live streamed weekly for those who are at risk or unable to come onsite.

KCA and Full Life Students - You're Invited!
The KCA team is hosting weekly video conferencing sessions for our students on Tuesdays at 3:00pm, now through November 17th. Future dates in December are also underway. We would love to have our FLCC children join us. Please contact Ann Kawauchi for more info.

 

Need Your Help
Pastor Daniel and Pastor Sea Faa need help with furniture for their one-bedroom apartment.  Do you have these items in good condition to donate, preferably in apartment sizes?  Please contact the Board.

  • One two-seater sofa bed

  • One dining table with chairs
  • One study table with chair

 

Blessing Others

  Volunteering at KCA: Do you have a talent you would like to share with our children from KCA and our church families?  The activity can be short, anywhere from five to fifteen minutes, and can be shared over Zoom.  This would be a wonderful opportunity to connect with the children in our community.  Please contact Ann Kawauchi for more information.

Group Activities: Let’s do something fun together as a church community. If you have an idea, a teachable talent or know someone who does, please tell us.

  • Bible Study Series: Bible study is starting this Sunday, November 1, 1:00 pm! Serve: How We Can Give Back as We Serve Others, moderated by Pastor Jonathan. Sign Up now.
  • Life Group Meetings: Life groups are connecting through various ways during COVID.  If you are interested in contacting a Life Group leader, want to start a new group, or just have questions, please contact Dan Fong at bigbluepond@gmail.com.

  • 412 Club (Children): During the Fall quarter, 412 Teachers will continue to connect with the children offline. Families should expect mostly phone calls or snail mail. Student sheets are still available for download. Lesson 9: Lot and Abram Divide the Land. For questions, email sfflcckids@gmail.com.
