Staff Picks

Untamed cover
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Pretty sure this is on everyone's "best of" list, so here it is again. Glennon can be the most relatable, most flawed, most human person and the most inspiring, most profound, most enlightened person–within the same paragraph.
-Marleah, Supervising Librarian

Punching the Air cover
Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam (Book on order)
This heart-wrenching and necessary novel-in-verse tells the story of Amal, a teen, artist, and poet, who is incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit. As we learn more about Amal through lyrical verse interspersed with abstract watercolors, we also gain first-hand insight into the broken and biased prison system. What makes this book even more powerful is that it is co-written by Yusef Salaam from the Exonerated Five.
-Molly, Teen Librarian

Gustavo, the Shy Ghost cover.
Gustavo, the Shy Ghost by Flavia Z. Drago
This charming story about a shy ghost who wants to make friends is uplifting and so beautifully illustrated with details from Mexican culture!
-Doris, Librarian
