October has been a busy month for Actsafe with the release of a new COVID-19 safety course, the development of a checklist to assist with COVID-19 Safety Plans, and an updated Provincial Health Order. 

In this Monthly Updates, you will find information about all of the above, as well as a number of upcoming webinars, Actsafe course dates, and a reminder about the Actsafe Entertainment Safety Conference session proposal deadline. Actsafe is pleased to announce that we have created a new course for the arts and entertainment industries – COVID-19 Safety Procedures!  

This FREE online course provides a general overview for workers in British Columbia’s arts and entertainment production industries on how to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19 on their worksites. 

This course takes only 30 minutes and is mobile friendly.

Owner Checklist for Organizer Responsibilities

Actsafe has developed a new template to help guide an owner, operator, or venue during the evaluation of a potential organizer, renter, or promoter’s COVID-19 Safety Plan. It has been created in consideration of the Gatherings and Events Order of British Columbia (October 9, 2020)

Mass Gatherings and Events Orders

During the COVID-19 pandemic, B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer has been releasing Mass Gatherings and Events Orders.  

You will find the most current Order and all previous Orders on the Actsafe website along with comparison documents that show the differences between the previous Order and the most recent Order.

Psychological Support Toolkit

Actsafe is a supporting association of Work to Wellness and BCMSA's Psychological Support Toolkit for Workers and Employers: COVID-19 and Part 5 of the virtual summit is this Thursday, October 29 at 10 am. 

In this session, Diana Vissers will host a panel of industry leaders who will provide their lens on COVID-19 and the effects on mental health and wellness in the workplace. The panel will include representatives from the following leading industry sectors:

COVID-19 Support Program

Did you know that Iridia Medical has a team of health care professionals, emergency planners, and educators who are available to support the arts and entertainment industries in all aspects of the COVID-19 response? 

Actsafe is partnering with Iridia Medical to bring their COVID-19 Support Program to Actsafe’s members at a special discounted rate.

Sustainable Production Forum

The Sustainable Production Forum (SPF) focuses on the pressing issue of sustainability within the motion picture and entertainment industry and this year the event is virtual. 

The final SPF webinar, Producers on Sustainability, is this Wednesday, October 28th at 11 am and is open for registration now.

Road Safety At Work Webinar

Winter driving presents unique challenges as drivers deal with seasonal weather, colder temperatures, and shorter daylight hours. Therefore, Road Safety At Work is holding a free, one-hour webinar ‘Shift into Winter: Practical BC Winter Driving Tips’ on November 4 at 11 am.  

This complimentary webinar is for anyone who drives during their work week. It will also be of value to owners, managers, supervisors, health and safety practitioners, safety committee members and others who have responsibility for making decisions and developing programs to keep employees safe on BC roads.

Safety Scene Advertising Opportunities

Safety Scene is Actsafe’s quarterly newsletter, which is sent out to our subscriber list and then shared with the public at large through our social media channels and website. We also mail out a physical copy to a curated stakeholder list of over 150 industry organizations. If that wasn’t enough, 100% of the revenue generated from the advertisements will be donated to our chosen charity.
