Her Story: Deborah Frieze of Boston Impact Initiative
October 27th, 2020 5:00-6:45pm
Zoom
Free

We’re excited for Deborah Frieze to join us on Tuesday, October 29, from 5pm to 6:30pm to tell Her Story of her journey as an investor, and founder of the Boston Impact Initiative (BII).  BII provides capital to entrepreneurs in the Boston area focused on economic justice, meaning they invest in opportunity for all people—especially those most oppressed or abandoned by our current economic system—to lead a dignified and productive life.  Additionally BII engages in field-building initiatives that challenge conventional beliefs about ownership, competition, profit-making and control—and advance fresh perspectives on democratizing investment, strengthening relationships and building solidarity.  As an agent of systems change, Deb is the co-author of the book, Walk Out, Walk On profiling pioneering leaders who walked out of organizations failing to contribute to the common good—and walked on to build resilient communities.  Deborah is also a mentor for the RSF Integrative Capital Institute.

Agenda for Zoom Online Event:

  • 5:00pm –  VT WIN intros and meeting guidelines
  • 5:30pm – Her Story: Deborah Frieze
  • 6:15pm – Time for Q&A with Deborah
  • 6:30pm –  General / Open Discussion
  • 6:45pm – Wrap up

As always, there will be time for a discussion and sharing ideas.  Vermont Women’s Investors Network believes strongly in being an inclusive and diverse network.  The meeting is free and open to all women and femmes, trans-gender and gender non-forming people interested in learning more about how they can invest with their values.

About Deborah Frieze:  Deborah Frieze is an author, entrepreneur and social activist. Her award-winning book (co-authored with Meg Wheatley), Walk Out Walk On: A Learning Journey into Communities Daring to Live the Future Now, profiles pioneering leaders who walked out of organizations failing to contribute to the common good—and walked on to build resilient communities. She co-founded the Boston Impact Initiative in 2013 to help address inequities in access to capital and opportunity. Deborah is also founder of the Old Oak Dojo, an urban learning center where neighbors gather to rediscover how to create healthy and resilient communities.
