Kia Ora!

Our 12th annual Founders' Day Celebration is coming up on Friday 6 November at St Peters. Details below - please do come along!

Want to get involved?
We welcome residents with an interest in the inner city who are keen to contribute to ICW's work. You can join the committee or contribute to one of our projects. Any amount of time you are able to volunteer will be a big help. We are particularly keen to work with people who have connections to underrepresented communities, including renters, migrants, students, people with disabilities, and Māori and Pasifika. If you would like to chat with us about how you could get involved, fill out this form and we'll be in touch soon (or just come along to Founders Day and chat to one of the committee).
You are warmly invited to our 12th Annual Founders Day which will be held at the Garden Room at St Peter's on Friday 6 November at 6pm.

The evening is a celebration of ICW and its achievements over the past year. Come hear about our projects, our events and our plans for the coming year to help us grow and be more connected across the inner city. It is a wonderful opportunity for our members and friends of ICW to meet.

The Hon Grant Robertson MP will give the Founders address and other MP'S and local dignitaries will be present.

The event is free, but please RSVP by Thursday 5 November so we can ensure we have sufficient cake.
Yes, I'm coming to Founders Day!

Residential Earthquake Prone Building Financial Assistance Scheme

The Scheme is now open for applications on Kainga Ora's website where you can find the application form, some FAQs and detail around the eligibility criteria.

If you have questions about the Scheme that can't be answered from the website you can email EQ-Assist@kaingaora.govt.nz or contact the Senior Product Manager for the Scheme, Mike Webber on 021 493 187. The application form is detailed and Kainga Ora are keen to help potential applicants understand what is required. You could also ask to meet with Mike to discuss any questions. ICW is continuing to engage with Kainga Ora on the Scheme.

At the Candidates meeting in August, Grant Robertson said the review of the Scheme needed to be fast-tracked given the time that has elapsed and the events that have occurred since it was first announced in June 2019.  We are keen to hear from owners about their experiences during any application process. Reply to this email to share your story with us.

Earthquake prone legislation

Minister Salesa said that she 'would consider doing a review to ensure legislation was fit-for-purpose and to ensure faith in the system' in a recent RadioNZ interview. This is a big change from previous positions and it now remains to be seen who is appointed as Minister of Building and Construction. We have again said to our (recently re-elected) local MP, Hon Grant Robertson, that the review has to be independent, and progressed urgently.
