Resisting environmental injustice through education

Environmental justice speaker series
Tuesday, November 10, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Environmental problems do not impact everyone equally. The impacts are different across race and class. This is why it is important to include race and class in conversations about environmental protection. The speakers in this panel are experts and local activists working towards environmental justice, including
  • Michelle Gabrieloff Parish: former Energy & Climate Justice Manager at CU Boulder’s Environmental Center.
  • Micaela Iron Shell-Dominguez: mentor and director for the International Indigenous Youth Council and Co-founder of Women from the Mountain.
  • Fatuma Emmad: Co-founder of Frontline Farming.
The panel is hosted by CU Boulder’s Society of Environmental Engineers (SEVEN), in collaboration with the Environmental Engineering Program, the BOLD Center and CU Boulder’s chapters of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. This series originated in direct response to the murder of George Floyd, and the racism and systematic inequalities disproportionately impacting communities of color across the United States. See the event webpage for the Zoom link.
