The Job of an EMA Director

Join us online on Thursday, October 29 at 8pm for our monthly Georgia AUXC Training Meeting. This month's presentation will be "The Job of an EMA Director" by Hall County EMA Director Casey Ramsey.

About our speaker

This month our guest speaker will be Casey Ramsey, EMA Director for Hall County, Georgia. Casey's job means coordinating responses for various public safety agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector during large incidents. He notes that the job carries a lot of responsibility, being personally responsible for the 200,000+ citizens that live in Hall County, GA. Casey got his start as a firefighter and grew up in a public safety household. His father was a firefighter and paramedic.

Georgia AUXCOMM / GARS support 2020 Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) on 10/17

Reported by John Davis, WB4QDX, Deputy AUXC Manager.
Saturday, 10/17/2020

Georgia AUXCOMM not only responds to emergency communications requests, but also helps promote radio communications by supporting community events.  The Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society (GARS) and Georgia AUXC supported the International Jamboree On the Air (JOTA) today in Gwinnett operating as KK4BSA.

GARS has participated in JOTA for many years and in previous years offers the Radio Merit Badge course at JOTA. This year with COVID as different with a lighter turnout, but still offering radio contacts on HF and D-STAR to Scouts who attended. Steve Back, WB2OGY pictured by himself, is the GARS Scouting Liaison and has held this role for many years.  Steve participated in the Boy Scout national Jamboree in West Virginia fort the past few years at K2BSA. Also pictured with a Scout contact is Earl Whatley, AF4FG.

For more information about JOTA, please contact Steve Back, WB2OGY, at steve@sback.org.
