From social media messages and direct emails to press releases and event listings — our product is built around a back-and-forth conversation, and we’re grateful for those people doing great things and every response and scoop sent our way. And, because of the nature of our product, we receive *a lot* of messages.
We put together this guide to help you navigate our product so that you are better able to share your story ideas and be featured in our newsletter, website + social channels. The content we decide to cover is based on overall relevance, diversity, and timeliness. We’ll get to this more later, but if you want to skip ahead, you can guarantee inclusion with some of our paid content opportunities.
Here, you’ll find all the different components that make up our email newsletter each day, along with a description of how they work and tips for how you can tailor your pitches to us. ⬇️

○ New office + retail space is coming to the upper peninsula, as a development is eyeing expansion in the area. Last year, the city approved plans for a new three-story, 107,000 square-foot mixed-use development on Morrison Drive, which was formally home to a Charleston Truck Service site and Martha Lou’s Kitchen. However, DHEC is concerned that a portion of the property that was used for a gasoline refueling station might have caused environmental pollution. Read more details here + provide public comment on the proposed cleanup here. (WCSC)

Do you work with or cherish an organization (non-profit, charity, or other) that gives back to our local community in a major way? This month, we plan to donate $1,000 and a Highlight in our newsletter to one lucky organization that helps support our local community.
Here’s how you can get involved and help your favorite organization win the grand prize:
Step 1: Fill out this entry form.
Step 2: Enter your name, email address, zip code, and the name of the local non-profit or local organization you wish to support. Please be sure you use the full proper name of the organization (✅ East Cooper Community Outreach vs ⚠️ ECCO). Step 3: Share our giveaway on your social media (Instagram, Facebook + Twitter, to name a few) and tag the local organization you’re supporting.
To ensure we keep things as fair and equal as possible, the winner will be chosen at random. Anyone living in Charleston and surrounding areas can enter through Nov. 22, 2020 11:59 p.m. You may enter once every 24 hours and the more times you enter, the more chances you and your organization will have to win.
We’re excited to kick off this initiative and work together to bring awareness to the organizations that help keep our communities connected and running. Thank you for participating!
