There’s no friend like a furry friend. 🐶
For those in need of a new four-legged companion, we’ve compiled a list of animal adoption centers + rescues around the Charleston area that have plenty of dogs and cats in need of forever homes. However, we know that caring for a pet is a big time commitment. Luckily, there are several ways to support these local shelters besides simply adopting – check out the links to their websites + social media platforms to learn more about each center and find out how you can help today. 🐱

Michael Kapusta of Simpsonville found this knobbed whelk shell on Folly Beach and contacted the S.C. Department of Natural Resources to learn more about the tag attached to it. The word “reward” is on the shell as well as “Mtn. shell, date, location, S.C. Mar. Res. Chas., S.C. 29412.”
The department learned that shell had been wearing its tag for 38 years almost to the day. Also, it was one of 7,000 adult whelks released by SCDNR biologists in October of 1982 as part of a study to learn more about how whelks migrate + how long they live.
This particular shell was released + found at Folly Beach, so it didn’t travel far. The reward for finding this ocean floor gem was $25. 🐚 |
