Spring 2021 Courses Addressing Asia

In Spring 2021, UA will have a range of courses related to the Asian Studies minor. Many of these courses also fulfill core requirements, such as Survey of Asian Art (ARH 254), Modern Asia Since 1400 (HY 114), and Religions of the World (REL 102). Check out the full list of courses related to Asian Studies while you plan your courses for next semester.

Why Study Asia?

The public discourse over the past year have highlighted the significance of Asia within this interconnected world. Asia incorporates the largest population of any continent, the largest country in the world (China), the largest democracy in the world (India), and a number of the fastest growing economies. Whether you have interests in film, ritual, literature, religion, or politics, the study of Asia can connect those interests with important geopolitical and economic developments that influence events anywhere in the world. In the process, you will develop a range of academic skills in different disciplines as well as transferable skills in critical thinking, observation, visual and textual analysis, and communication, that can be important in your career and your life generally. Talk to faculty in Asian Studies to hear more about the minor and the experiences of our graduates.
