Hey everyone,

I have 3 important things to share and more details are below:

1) Send me photos of your child in their Halloween costume!   This is how we'll make a fall connection with some of our elderly church members.

2) We begin a new Sunday School unit this Sunday!  If you haven't been on in a while or have never checked it out, this would be a great time to join us in person or via ZOOM at 9:15am!

3) I wrote a fall family devotional for you near the bottom of this email!

Help Us Make a Fun Connection with our Elderly Church Members!

In past years we have made a costumed visit to retirement communities as a fun way to make an intergenerational connection with our older church members.  This year, that won't be possible, so we want to send them a printed collage photo that includes all submitted pictures along with some other encouragement.  All you have to do is submit a photo of your kids (together or separately) in their Halloween costumes.  These will only be printed and mailed and not shared in any other way.  Email photos to Todd@fpcwinc.org or upload here:

Upload it to the CM Dropbox from your phone or any other device!

This image is the location for Kids Outdoor Sunday School!  You can't park in the church lot cause we use that for outdoor worship, but all downtown street and city lot parking is free on Sundays.

Worship also continues to be available online at

On THURSDAYS this fall from 4:30-5:15, Ms. Amy is working with a small group of kids to explore worshipful music-making.  It's for children ages 4-4th grade.  We rehearse in the courtyard between the Fellowship Hall and Donegal House.  They are using instruments to praise God.  There are opportunities to be connected to this music ministry virtually if that works better for your family.  Youth are welcome to participate as helpers.

Please contact Amy Bowman (amybowman07@gmail.com) if you are interested in joining us!

"FALLING LEAVES"

Read this short devotion as a family and talk about it together!

ASK: What happens to leaves in the fall?
Why do you think that happens?

READ: For a tree to remain healthy and strong, it must let go of its leaves in the autumn season.  This is to prepare for cold temperatures in winter.  The tree can go without the leaves, and by losing them, the tree can conserve energy and prepare for new growth that will come in the spring season.  It lets go of its leaves to thrive and do well for the future.

Just as the trees don’t stubbornly hold on to their dead leaves, we shouldn’t hold on to anything that we don't need for living in God's best way! The Bible reminds us to:

"Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, fighting and talking badly about others, along with every form of selfishness. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you". Ephesians 4:31-32

Ask: What are some things that people need to let go of to be closer to God?
What is something you think God wants you to let go of? [Have everyone in the family share someting]

Say: We can ask God to forgive us for the "dead leaves" in our lives that we know we need to get rid of.  God will forgive us and prepare us to grow and thrive more than ever before.  If decayed leaves are piling up in our hearts, God can help us discard them and have a fresh start!

Pray: Ask God to shine light on any thoughts, circumstances, habits or other “decayed leaves” that need to "fall away" from our lives.

Notice: As you watch the leaves fall this season, be reminded to let go of anything that would hinder a fresh relationship with God.
