Dear Reader,

This week we explore the joy and energy connecting with other people brings.

You can either watch the short video or read the article below.
The Joy of Connection

This past weekend we celebrated a milestone birthday for my wife. She loves drinking tea. A decade ago, with that year’s milestone, we celebrated with a tea party, a proper high tea with fine porcelain, flowers and dainty treats. This year, the pandemic forced us to be a bit more creative, so we did it with a series of virtual high tea parties on Zoom. We could host friends and family from around the world.

Her day started with an early morning  session for us, afternoon for the family and friends in South Africa and England. The last session of the day was in the afternoon for our Canadian friends. On all of these sessions, it was incredibly heartwarming to see young and old, from around the world, show up with their favourite cup or mug, toasting my wife and just loving her in cyberspace. Each had a bite to eat and a story to share. Some even dressed for the part! It was a high tea after all. She even got to reconnect with her best friend from primary school days!

It was oh so precious.

Afterwards she was very thankful and mentioned that this was probably one of the best birthdays she’s ever had. It was just absolutely fabulous to see everyone, to connect and to reconnect.

We both were filled with joy and thankfulness.

Connection, to connect and to be connected, has become even more important right now while we are kept apart by COVID.

When connected we feel secure, supported and filled with joy. When isolated, the opposite is true.

How connected are you right now?

How many people are you connecting to?

In business and in life, it is essential that we make it a priority, especially right now, to be pro-active about this. Are you reaching out to people to connect? Are you volunteering your services? Right now I volunteer on two Boards and belong to two choirs (we can’t really sing right now), I’m a Toastmaster and active in my church’s activities. Professionally I am a member of several groups and masterminds.

Connections don’t always come to you – you have to put yourself out there and make the first step.

I want to challenge you to step up and connect a bit more. The joy of connection makes it so worth the trouble! And you’ll bring joy to others by connecting to them!

I hope you found this helpful. More of the same can be found on nicohuman.com or by following me on LinkedIn, FaceBook or YouTube.

Thank you. Until next week!

I’m grateful to have you in my life. Remember to make a few extra connections today  …
