The football season is officially over and all tournaments completed, except one of course, our Adidas U19 tournament at Linfield Park this Labour weekend.

U19 Tournament

We will be entering a strong Boys team again this season coached by Bren Ong, Ekow Quainoo and Gary Bennett. As defending champions we will be looking for back to back wins and keep the trophy in the camp.

This year we will be entering a combined U19 Girls team. Players from SAS and Coastal will join forces and form the Eastern Invitational team. This will be coached by Rebecca Wilson and Rebecca Lake. We hope this could be the start of a great relationship between the 2 clubs and give the players a pathway through youth and in to senior football.

If you would like to volunteer to help at the tournament please contact Vicky at tournament@coastalspirit.nz We would love your help!

All tournament info can be found on our website and social media sites

Regional Tournaments

The Mainland regional tournaments were a success with all our teams enjoying the events with plenty of football being played. I managed to get to see 7 of our teams play  and also saw how well the tournaments were run. Selwyn did a fine job with the U10 Boys and Girls tournaments and had 3 point officiating for every game which was great to see.

I would like to thank everyone who volunteered to coach, manage and help out this season. Without you the players would not be able to play and enjoy themselves as much as they have. Thank you!

MPL Season Finish

The MPL Lads finished up their season with a 3-2 win over Nelson Suburbs. A victory that secured runner-up spot in the league. A strong run in the English Cup reaching the semifinal was also a good effort and going down 1-0 to the holders and favourites Cashmere Tech was no disgrace. Sometimes the luck of the draw does not go in your favor and a final v Tech would have been a fitting finally. Tech went on to beat Christchurch United in the final. Overall it’s been a good season. Well done to Ekow, Adam, Hughsey, Dave and all the lads.

Ricky Herbert

The Ricki Herbert Academy came to Linfield Park for a second visit brining their U11/U12 squad to play some Coastal teams. A really good occasion that will get a bit more coverage in the next newsletter but here are some pictures from the U12 game.
