In light of the recent hate crimes towards Mi'kmaq Fisherfolk and other violations of Indigenous rights on Turtle Island, there will be multiple events this weekend in Calgary to demand that our governments respect indigenous sovereignty.
Tomorrow, October 23rd, our weekly school strike will be focused on indigenous sovereignty. As per usual, we'll be outside City Hall from 12-1 pm.
Masks and social distancing required.
On Saturday, October 24th, Idle No More YYC will be hosting a march in solidarity with Indigenous fisherfolk in Mi'kmaki.
It will be at 1 pm. The location will be announced on their Instagram on Friday at 6 pm, to prevent counter-protesters.
