Joys and Concerns
If you have a joy or a concern you would like lifted up in prayer this Sunday in our worship, please send Nancy Mikoski an email with "Joys & Concerns" in the memo. She will gather them and lift them up in prayer. The deadline is Friday at noon for the upcoming Sunday.

Note: All of our worship services are available on our website.  Visit the church website home page and follow the link in the upper right. Look for the video player and a link for the order of worship document (PDF.). There you will also find a link to the archive of prior services.

Remember that live streaming starts at 10:15 am including communion.
Please prepare communion elements.
The video of the service without communion will be posted and available later on Sunday.
"In life and in death you bless us, O God. When trouble overwhelms us, you save us. When sorrow overtakes us, you comfort us. When death overcomes us, you overcome death and raise us to new life. You promise us joy everlasting and, even now, give us glad hope and glimpses of your realm, which is to come when Christ makes all things new. For calling us your children, and bestowing upon us such great love, we give you thanks, in Jesus' name. Amen."

News . . .  Briefly
  • October is Clergy Appreciation Month. Nancy and Casey, please see below our humble recognition, and thanks. Everyone else, add your voices on Facebook, send an email, note or card.
  • And starting on Sunday, we move on to the next stage. Live streaming of worship begins this Sunday. The live event is at 10:15 am. The video of the worship will be available later on Sunday after the live communion portion of the service is edited out. The links to both the live and on-demand versions of the service begin at pennpres.org
  • Starting next Sunday, about 35 or so people will be able to attend worship in the sanctuary in person. Reservations will need to be made, and safety procedures followed. The service will also be live-streamed and available at 10:15 am on Sunday or the video later on Sunday. Here is a letter from Nancy Mikoski explaining this exciting next step.
  • Thank you to everyone who's returned their 2021 pledge. If you have not, your pledge in any amount will help the church carry out its missions. Call or email the church office if you need the information again. (609-737-1221, extension 10 or office@pennpres.org)
  • There will be a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 15 at 11:30 am by Zoom. A link will be provided in the prior This Week newsletter and in the Sunday newsletter. The docket is: electing officers, voting on the terms of all for Nancy Mikoski, celebrate God's goodness, and the life of our church during an extraordinary year.
  • Dorothy Bryan's Memorial Service will be on Saturday, October 31 at 11:00 am in the Ewing Presbyterian Cemetery. Please wear a mask and bring a chair if you like.
  • To further improve our communications and social media visibility, you are invited to 'follow' (and not just like) the PPC Facebook page. Read more below or go directly to the 1 page PDF with a fuller explanation.
  • In case you missed it, you may still read and learn from the summary of the information and advice shared during the October Brown Bag event "Avoiding Scams." Click here to open up the PDF report.
  • Sunday Night Central youth group is not meeting on Zoom this Sunday at its usual 6:30 pm slot. Instead, middle school kids are invited to join a masked, socially-distant contemplative walk through the graveyard from 4:30 pm-5 pm on Sunday. Casey will email you if you are registered. If not, send an email to Casey@pennpres.org to join.
  • The next 'Pop Culture and Theology' event this week will be on Wednesday, November 4. The PPC group will meet together with the youth group of Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church to talk about Frozen II. Pastor Casey will send out the Zoom link to families who are registered. (Email him if you want to join for the first time at Casey@pennpres.org.)

You Are Invited to Follow the PPC Facebook Page
The communication and membership committee would like to put in place a more systematic social media program and needs your help. The first step in this strategy is for all of us who are on Facebook to ‘follow’ the Pennington Presbyterian Facebook page -- and not just like it.

Our goal is to raise the public profile of our church and having more followers helps raise the profile of the page when people search for churches in our area. A more active use of the page will also help knit us closer together as a community of faith and provide an additional effective communication channel. This can only happen with your participation. We’ve chosen to start with Facebook since many of you already like the PPC page.

(Right now is a great time to do this when you go on our Facebook page to add a message of appreciation for Nancy and Casey. Go ahead and click on 'follow' while you're there.)

Read more here.

Please add your voices to Facebook where the photos below are featured, or directly send your recognition and thanks for the faithful service and leadership of Nancy Mikoski and Casey Aldridge. We should do this always but October happens to be Clergy Appreciation Month! Quick, quick before October is gone.

Let us Pray ... Psalm 34:1-10, 22
1   I will bless the Lord at all times;
          his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2   My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
          let the humble hear and be glad.
3   O magnify the Lord with me,
          and let us exalt his name together.
4   I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
          and delivered me from all my fears.
5   Look to him, and be radiant;
          so your faces shall never be ashamed.
6   This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
          and was saved from every trouble.
7   The angel of the Lord encamps
          around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8   O taste and see that the Lord is good;
          happy are those who take refuge in him.
9   O fear the Lord, you his holy ones,
          for those who fear him have no want.
10  The young lions suffer want and hunger,
          but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
22  The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
          none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
