Good morning on this (hopefully where you are) bright Sunday...

How have you been?  In a week that’s been… a lot (so much so I’ve started doing that online thing of ‘hasn’t this week been the longest year?!’ Or whatever the kids are saying…) it’s been even more important for me to load up on the little nice things, and make sure this little send out is bursting with little pockets of positivity, especially when they’ve been a little bit harder to find. Hopefully you can soak this up with your breakfast, guzzle it down with your tea, and ultimately end feeling like- in spite of everything- there is a good out there.

This week I’ve largely spent horizontal, re-watching Sex and the City (more on that another time- but apparently I still cry at Aiden?!), ordering babka and bagels (self care in it’s highest form), and soaking up any pockets of energy I can find as and when they present themselves. I’ve also been trying to plan ahead a little, not succumb to the inevitable planning and pressure of the next few months (whilst equally still trying to be calm and organised) and take care of myself- and I hope you have too.

So, snuggle up- light those candles you might save for best and take care. Have a wonderful week ahead, and remember to be gentle with yourself- we all need it.

(The most beautiful autumnal images from the Bellrose and Rowse Beauty collaboraion, taken by the amazing Nuria)
  • During a time where television has proved utmost comfort (I mean, when hasn't it?) I am over the moon and back that there will be a third series of Stath Lets Flats (THANK YOU HEAVENS ABOVE). This week the Line of Duty cast were also on Gogglebox, Think About Things was a dance on Strictly and the Olsen twins catalogue is imminently appearing on Netflix- so if there was ever a time to snuggle up indoors and indulge in quality television, it’s now folks! I’ve also heard Sara Pascoe’s 'Out Of Her Mind' is meant to be amazing too- so that’s my autumn sorted…
  • In case you don't already follow the delightful Henry James Garrett, a) may I recommend you check out his joyous page here, and b) order his book 'This Book Will Make You Kinder' which looks like the book 2020 truly needs.
  • I loved this piece on the Irish Times, with 75 glorious reasons to be cheerful from some of the most brilliant people- from the ordinary to the silly and the everyday, it truly makes you realise that there's plenty of happiness to be found in the day to day, and (hopefully) it doesn't always require looking too hard.
  • If you needed a little optimism too, this letter from Nancy Stewart ('an 107-year-old who's lived through two world wars, financial crashes & Spanish flu') offers some really lovely pockets of hope.
  • For style inspiration, although this week has largely consisted of four-way stretch fabric (literally, according to my label) I loved this piece about our Queen Stevie's style in pictures, which definitely has inspired me to make the most of the days where I do get dressed (it happens- I promise).
  • If you've felt lonely or isolated working from home in the last few months, the wonderful women at Her Hustle have set up their daily virtual co-working for free for the month of October, for anyone who wants to join and needs a little company (or accountability) when it comes to getting things done.
  • I also found this piece on Gal Dem really informative when knowing how to help and support the End SARS protests outside of Nigeria. Reading the news and the atrocities going on around the world can feel overwhelming, and knowing where to start can stunt even the most well-meaning of people, but thankfully with resources and generous articles like this, we can all do a small bit to help keep propelling things forward.
  • Finally- this tweet also cheered me up endlessly- as well as this, naturally.
Because often a good soundtrack is what gets me through the gloomiest of days, and one of my favourites for this time of year is Catbird's Autumn In New York offering over on Spotify. Or the When Harry Met Sally soundtrack too- because, truly, nothing makes an autumnal rainy dog walk as romantic as Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong- trust me, it's tried and tested.
I discovered Jacqueline through the lovely Danielle, and have already fallen in love with her beautiful handwritten quotes, which act as the loveliest pick me ups and gentle kind reminders on your feed- especially for days when you're feeling a little grey and need reminding that tomorrow is a new day, and you absolutely have got this.
Postcards from our cosy Cornish bolthole and discovering more of the south west...
If you're in need of a beautiful UK town to add to your 'to visit' list, may I point you in the direction of lovely Falmouth...
A concise guide of what not to wear whilst hiking in Cornwall (but a lovely dress and some new lovely places we visited)!
The beauty products worth putting make up on for- even if you're after a bit of lazy day- I promise these are some goodies!
