Covid response grants

£24k Mental Health Covid Response Grant

Deadline: 5pm 6th November 2020.
Interlink, VAMT and BAVO are working in partnership with CTMUHB to award grants of up to £24k to help develop or support mental health and wellbeing services that meet one or more of the local identified needs:
  • children and young people
  • social isolation (including digital exclusion)
  • economic impact (financial wellbeing and food prosperity)
  • co-occurring mental health and substance misuse
  • bereavement support
  • carer support.
 

Mental health forum updates

South Wales Valleys Samaritans launch telephone support
South Wales Valleys Samaritans now offer confidential, non-judgemental, emotional telephone support service to those who need it in addition to their outreach work. Call 116 123 to access it.

This is a completely free number and does not appear on telephone bills. You can also call the Welsh Language Line on 0808 164 0123 (open from 7pm - 11pm 7 days a week).

Project SPEAK
CTM Mind is launching a brand new project this November that aims to prevent suicide and save lives in RCT and Merthyr Tydfil. Project SPEAK will deliver suicide prevention training, awareness raising campaigns and postvention support over the next three years.

Carers STAR Project
CTM Mind provide support and assistance to adult carers living in Merthyr Tydfil. The Carers' STAR project provides information and advice and can signpost carers to a range of other local services.

MHM Wales are now offering online support for families and friends of people living with memory loss and dementia every Monday from 11am to 12pm.

Young Persons' Counselling Service
Eye to Eye offers free confidential counselling to children and young people who live in Rhondda Cynon Taf and are between the ages of 7 and 25 years. The counselling service is now providing online counselling using face to face video, text counselling chat or telephone counselling.
Referrals are open to all and can be made:
Directly with the Head of Year at a young person’s school.

Young Men’s Mental Health Group
Spectacle Theatre have restarted their Young Men’s Mental Health group!  The online session is now delivered on Zoom every Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Creating Artwork
Louise Shenstone has been commissioned to create artworks for Dewi Sant Health Park. As part of her design process she is consulting with staff and local communities through a series of workshops and art packs.

Green Ribbon Arts Festival
This is a new event for the arts and mental health in Wales. Organised by the Mental Health Foundation, the festival will be held online between October 26 – November 7.
Together for Mental Health Representative Review
The Cwm Taf Morgannwg Together for Mental Health Partnership Board have commissioned a review of the Service User and Care Representative role and the wider engagement of citizens across the region.
 
A survey will be released in the coming weeks to gather the views and opinions of service users and your support would be welcomed. Watch this space and we will be in touch soon!
