Announcements from the Bishop of Derby's office
Mr Edward Latham, Lay Chair of the deanery of Hardwick and formerly Lay Chair of the deanery of Alfreton, and Administrator of the Bishop of Derby’s Harvest Appeal for many years, died on Wednesday, 14 October 2020. The funeral took place on Wednesday, 21 October at St Leonard’s Shirland.
Following a review of staffing in the Bishop’s Office and after a period of consultation, Mrs Pippa Rowen, Chaplain (Lay) to the Bishop of Derby, will have her last working day in post on Friday, 30 October 2020. Pippa joined the Bishop’s staff in January 2011 and became an integral member of the team. She worked closely with Bishop Alastair around the issue of Modern Slavery and assisted him with research and in drawing up the Modern Slavery Bill which passed into law in 2015. Bishop Libby is very grateful for the support Pippa provided for her introduction to the Diocese last year, and her expert advice regarding public policy work. She knows you will want to join her in wishing Pippa well for the future.
The Revd Richard Law, Team Vicar in the North Wingfield, Clay Cross and Pilsley Team Minister, with special responsibility Clay Cross and Danesmoor, has announced his retirement. Mr Law’s last day in post will be Monday, 30 November, with his retirement taking effect from Tuesday, 1 December, 2020. Mr Law will move away from the diocese in retirement.
The Revd Nick Grayshon, Vicar of Matlock Bath and Cromford, has announced his retirement. Mr Grayshon’s last day in post will be Tuesday, 3 November, with his retirement taking effect from Wednesday, 4 November 2020. He will move away from the diocese in retirement.
