Hello, Fellow Book Lover!
It's been a busy 2 weeks, here on my end! Not only am I doing all kinds of booky stuff, but I've also been taking part in my first Halloween SINCE FOREVER.
My family didn't really celebrate Halloween. My dad didn't let me trick or treat almost at all - he took me to maybe 3 neighbours he knew well, and that was it, saying -"I'll buy you all the candy you want!" He didn't actually do that either :), but somehow, I managed. I actually didn't miss it as we weren't allowed to eat tons of candy anyway!
When I got into teenagerhood though, my flair for drama asserted itself. I dressed up as a witch, grabbed my parent's cauldon (yep, we owned a CAULDRON, lol), filled it with candy, put on my best cackle and screechy voice, and greeted all the little neighbourhood kiddies to our darkened house. I had a blast! Not sure what the kids thought, but I had fun. :) And plenty of them did come - I had to keep refilling THE CAULDRON, lol.
This year, I carved my first pumpkin in a bazillion years with one of my besties. She loves Halloween, I love Christmas, so we decided to team up and enjoy the Big H together. We had fun! We're predicting a full day carve-a-thon for next year. Here's the picture of our completed pumpkins:
My picture turned out dark, but neither are too bad after years away, right?
I'm actually experimenting with cooking or pan-frying pumpkin too. It's a nutritious, cheap veg, right? Now, if I can only make it taste yummy!! I'll let you know how that goes. :)
IF YOU HAVE any delicious pumpkin recipes (other than pie :) ), please hit reply and send it to me? I'll pick one and pop it into the next newsletter, and also feature it on Facebook, if you give me permission. I am chiefly looking for savoury recipes, though I appreciate whatever you've tried and think is good!
IN OTHER NEWS
I'm happy to report that Real Man 1: The First Miracle and Real Man 2: The Best Miracle are almost finished. Final edits are done, and there's only a single scene to lengthen in Book 2. I'm looking to launch very soon - I'll let you know the date as soon as I can!
I'm also finishing Zachary's story, book 2 of the Men of Hope House. As well, I've got a few Christmas shorts I've been dabbling with that keep tugging at me - good intentions and all that.
If you're in the mood for a Halloween short, The Escape is available. It's a short Halloween thriller about a woman finding her strength after she leaves an ill-advised marriage. It's a VERY SHORT story - be warned - but I know I don't have almost any time for reading many weeks, so short stories can be refreshing and a quick escape. Anyway, it's there, if you're so inclined.
That's it, until next newsletter. I hope you've had a good week and that there are brilliant surprises in your everyday life, both tiny and big. In my book, they're all special - and we need more of them!
See you in your Inbox soon,
Susan
