Bilgola Newsletter 24th October 2020

Junior News

What a great start to our Nippers Season on Sunday!

Our Under 6s were all smiles as they were introduced to our Club - particularly being able to have a sit in the IRB - thankyou Dave!

Our Under 12s were given an added incentive, a ride in the IRB to shark nets, if they were able to get past the break!!

Huge smiles all around and huge thanks to our Juniors Committee, Age Managers/Assistants, Patrol - led by Greg Woods, IRB Captain - Rob Madew and Director of Surf LIfesaving - Adrian Wegryzn.

SRC - 2019 group started their training on Saturday - all passing their proficiencies and set for completing their training over the next few weeks! Special thanks to Emanuel and Zac in training this special group.

We also give thanks to all parents/caregivers helping us to be COVID safe by pre registering for their session, and keeping the required distance.  Let's keep this up!

PLEASE PRE COVID REGISTER for this Sunday by clicking on the link on Bilgolaslsc.org.au

****CALLOUT - UNIFORM SHOP VOLUNTEERS***

Our Uniform shop has been excellently handled over the last few years by Amy Preston and Mhairi Coghill. Understandably, they would like to step back from this role to enable them to pursue other interests.

We are looking for at least 1-2 volunteers to help continue the running of the Uniform shop and Clothing website.

Please contact - Juniors.chairman@bilgolaslsc.org.au for further information on the role.

Looking forward to another great day!

Karen Perry
Juniors Chairman

Patrol News:

A lot of activity at Bilgola last weekend with SRC training on Saturday morning, and a big Sunday with Nippers underway for the season. Our patrollers had to adjust to an 8am start to support our Nippers program which  runs in 2 waves for separate age groups to maintain our maximum numbers on the beach.

It was exciting for all the new nipper kids to see what Lifesaving and Surf Patrol is all about and they were treated to a few introductions by our IRB Captain, David Madew, and a patrol briefing by Vice Patrol Captain, Meaghan Harris and our energetic members ready for the 8am start, thank you Patrol 2.

Water safety and numbers was the primary focus and 2 successful morning sessions were held. Thank you to our Juniors officer, Karen Perry for all the hard work and preparations in the lead up to this season. As usual, Bilgola adapted with ease, teams were ready to support each other which made for a busy and successful weekend. Thank you to all involved and for all our (early) Sunday AM patrols going forward.

Skills Maintenance

This season marks a huge shift in the way we conduct surf lifesaving operations and we request all active members complete their online skills maintenance ASAP.

Online skills maintenance is where patrolling members will be educated and equipped with the new information they need to patrol this season. On account of COVID, online skills maintenance also covers off the dry components for Bronze/SRC holders, leaving only the wet proficiencies to be done in-person. Because we will be starting this soon on the beach, please complete the online. You will need to provide a printed certificate of completion of the online component to finish off with your wet proficiency.

For information on the new changes to Bronze and SRC, please see the video and info page below.

You should have received an email about skills maintenance if you are a patrolling member and have access via elearning in the members area. If you have any trouble or questions please email Training.Officer@bilgolaslsc.org.au

  • Processing member information through the Surf Life Saving CRM database, Surfguard
  • Managing and updating documents using cloud software such as Dropbox and Google Drive

HOUSE OF THE WEEK 25 RAYNER RD PALM BEACH

Claiming one of the most exclusive settings on Whale Beach, this is the holiday home everyone dreams of owning; it delivers sensational due north views across the curve of the beach to the Central Coast. Privately tucked into a 942sqm easycare block near the cul-de-sac end of Rayner Road, the contemporary split-level design has the oceanfront taking centre stage; the interiors are framed by clean, modernist lines and combined with exquisite coastal style. Simple, uncomplicated, yet absolutely dazzling; this one must be seen to be fully appreciated.

Ssssh. It's in the VAULT, however if you are in the market for one of Palm Beach's best deep waterfront homes then you won't find it on our website but you will find it by calling me and requesting a private inspection. Price Guide: $12M. If that is beyond your price range then perhaps 25 Rayner road at $3.6M -$3.8M could tempt you (see House of the Week below).

Buyers continue to outnumber sellers so if you are thinking about selling, my one question to you is: "Why would you wait?"

Please see more facts about the Australian wide property market in our weekly updated:

Ray White Now Property Report

Last Saturday, the Ray White Group - which can boast a 30 per cent auction market share nationally - recorded a whopping 5.7 registered bidders per property showing stock levels are struggling to keep up with intense buyer demand. We expect property activity for the balance of the year to be stronger than it was pre-COVID. There is a natural window open, between now and Christmas, that offers an opportunity to sell into a strong market. We simply do not know what the future holds in 2021, but right now listing activity is being welcomed by extraordinary buyer demand. What are you waiting for?
