Dear Friends,
This week we are pleased to present a selection of works by Rä di Martino, celebrating her recent achievement as the first artist to win the Lio Capital Art Prize; as well as her current exhibition at Monica De Cardenas Gallery in Milan, featuring her new Allunati series.
Inspired by her background in theatre, di Martino oscillates between reality and fiction in her cross-disciplinary practice. Sets, actors and props are used variously to interrogate subjects such as human relationships, cinematographic traditions, the theatre of war, and the fabrication of history.
Rä di Martino (b.1975, Rome) has exhibited at Moma-PS1, New York; Tate Modern, London; MCA Chicago; Palazzo Grassi, Venice; the Busan Biennial; and the Venice, Locarno, and Torino International Film Festivals. She is a graduate of Chelsea College of Art and holds an MFA from the Slade School of Art, London.
