OM class continues to be split up into two sections of approximately 45 minutes each on Tuesday evenings. The first 45 minutes from 6:45-7:30pm is Sanskrit mantra study and practice. The second 45 minutes from 7:30-8:15pm is practicing virtually various meditations from the Becoming Supernatural text, which is sponsored by the Unity Spiritual Centre Girard’s Sunday morning Heart Math study group that meets from 9-10:30am Sundays. In October, we studied completed fourth cakra Shakti mantras. Shakti is feminine energy and symbolic of power. (Anahata = “not hit”, or the sound that is heard without vibrations) The fourth cakra is also known as the Heart Chakra. In November we’ll continue Thomas Ashley-Farrand’s Chakra Mantras text. We started chanting mantras of the hands and feet, and general healing mantras. Upcoming topics include the 40-Day Discipline, and Fifth Chakra (Vishudda or Throat cakra) mantras. After discussion, we spend about 10-15 minutes chanting together a mantra of the group’s choice. I will introduce mantras with correct Sanskrit pronunciation, we will read about their use, and you will have the opportunity to repeat it and find out which mantras resonate with you (or not).Vibration through mantra chanting is a meditation that connects you with your Divine Self.
 
After Sanskrit mantras, we’ll meditate virtually using Dr. Joe Dispenza’s “Blessing of the Energy Centers III meditation related to his book Becoming Supernatural. He describes an 8-cakra system slightly different than the traditional 7-cakra Hindu/yoga system. The “energy centers” correspond to the Hindu or Yogic chakras, except that Dispenza adds the Pineal Gland and moves the “Sahasrara or Thousand Petaled Lotus Chakra” at the top of the head to a place 16” above the head (this corresponds to the “Ka” body of Egyptian systems).

We usually get 20 names of children from the Niles Community Center in mid-November and that hasn’t changed.  Except that this year we are only getting 15 names because of lower attendance at the Centre and peoples comfort zones of moving in public.  Unfortunately that may affect children not getting gifts at Christmas and this year it is probably needed more than ever. 

Rather than commit to 20 and not being able to fulfill our obligation I chose less………… BUT…if your heart is touched, and you want to take one or more children or a family, if you pre-register we may be able to commit to more.

If you would like to participate, please call Mary Dunlavey (who has kindly agreed to take it over for Lynda Couch this year) at 330-518-7308.  Let her know your contact information and how many children you want.  Hopefully when we get the names, if you cannot pick them up in person, she can email or phone you their number/name/age/and gift  information.  Then you can arrange a drop-off of the gifts or a pickup from your house if needed.  The gifts should be wrapped, with the tag or the number for the child on the package for identification purposes.

In his book, Dynamics for Living, Charles Fillmore wrote:

"It has been found by experience that a person increases his blessings by being grateful for what he has. Gratitude even on the mental plane is a great magnet. When gratitude is expressed from the spiritual standpoint, it is powerfully augmented."

Charles Fillmore shares a great spiritual Truth in this passage.  A thankful, grateful heart attracts the good we desire from the Source of all good. Gratitude generates remarkable energy. Once released through us in praise and thanksgiving, it awakens us to an awareness of the good that is everywhere present and active in and on our behalf. There is always something for which we can be grateful in the present, and through the eyes of gratitude, we can see across the threshold of today into the possibilities and promises of an abundant tomorrow.

Divine ideas of health, prosperity, and wisdom planted in the gardens of our minds must flourish in the future as we give thanks. Our very freedom to behold the good and the true stirs our hearts with gratitude. Armed with this great spiritual Truth, we have a ready tool to use when we are blessed in even the least measure.  We can acknowledge any small or large blessing by, saying, "Thank You, God!"  A grateful person is a happy person – simply because gratitude acts like a magnet.

Embittered people generally are preoccupied by what they believe has passed them by or what they feel they have been cheated out of. The Universe works under spiritual law. Even a versatile and infinite Creator cannot bring good into the experience of one whose mind and heart are closed to good. Why?  Because condemnation and ingratitude sour the mind and heart. The Spiritual Law cannot be manipulated. This leaves the victim simmering in a hell of his or her own making.

On the other hand, verbally expressed gratitude generates the energy that changes all that and enables one to appreciate the good in life.  Suddenly, everything that God has made causes us to rejoice. Gratitude is readily available, unlimited in quantity, quick and effective in its action.

To be deeply grateful is to be profoundly happy. The two reinforce each other. The key to a constant flow of Grace is a constant flow of gratitude. Thanksgiving is so powerful in restoring or "calling forth" the life force of the body that it might instantly lift us out of physical peril or bring us back from the very brink of death.

The power of thanksgiving opens the way to overcoming and to moving forward to embrace a new life. Praise and give thanks to God. To praise a thing is to acknowledge the presence of God in it. To give thanks is to give grateful thought and feeling to the one Source, God the Good.

 Enjoy the Magnificent gift of Thanksgiving.
