NOVEMBER 4TH ACTIONS – PROTECTING THE ELECTION RESULTS

We are nearing the end of a tumultuous presidential election. Unfortunately, even if the results are an overwhelming victory for Democrats, Trump has made it clear that he will not leave power gracefully. At that point, we the people need to rise up, and stand up for democracy with mass actions in the streets.

Miami DSA is on the steering committee of a statewide coalition of over 100 progressive organizations, including Black Lives Matter, Women’s March, unions, and many many more. Actions will begin election night November 3, and continue daily at least through Saturday, November 7, which has been designated as a National Day of Action when large rallies will be held.

Here are a few ways that you can join in the effort:

We need people to attend rallies, help with communications, join the security team, serve as a medic, and help with legal support if participants are targeted by the police. Contact us if you are interested in volunteering your time.

Planning meetings are every Thursday night at 7:00 PM. Sign up for the next meeting at bit.ly/nov4action

MOVEMENT FOR A PEOPLE'S PARTY MEETING

The Bernie Sanders campaign gave many democratic socialists something to support both in 2016 and 2020. The democratic establishment made it very clear through their actions they would prefer a second term Trump presidency over a Sanders presidency. Many are looking to go beyond a party which doesn't hold our values. The platform during a pandemic even removed establishing a national healthcare system as a goal.

The Movement for a People's Party held their convention on August 30th where many exciting speakers such as Senator Nina Turner, Dr. Cornell West and democratic candidate for president Marianne Williamson were able to discuss why a new party is needed in America. Join us on Sunday October 25th to discuss this movement, its stated values, and whether the DSA should be involved.

Tomorrow, Sunday October 25th at 6pm. Register to join the conversation at bit.ly/mpp_meeting

100K RECRUITMENT DRIVE

DSA's 100K Recruitment Drive began on October 1st, and we are happy to report that 2,523 members have joined our mass organization since then. Our Miami Chapter has added 4 new members so far, bringing us 16.7% of the way to our Chapter recruitment goal of about 25 new members. I believe that we will not only reach our goal, but surpass it. In order to do this however, we need YOU to sign the 100k pledge and generate your unique referral link to pass on to at least 3 of your friends, family, & coworkers.

The first 500 members to reach the pledge goal of 3 new members get a custom DSA hat, and the top recruiter in the Chapter will get a special prize selected by the Coordinating Committee!

It is crucial that every single one of our members sign the pledge and actively try to recruit at least 3 people in their network so we can increase our organizational capacity moving forward as we continue to build power in Miami-Dade County.
