CGEN Forum 2020: Building a Community of Practice for Global Engineering
November 11
12:00 p.m. EST

Research innovation is the key to addressing some of the world’s most intractable global development challenges, from food insecurity and energy poverty, to safe housing and access to clean drinking water. Needless to say, conducting engineering research in this field is complicated; however, a growing number of engineering faculty at prominent universities have been successful at carving a research niche in this area. The 2020 CGEN Forum invites four of those faculty to share their experience on how to conduct engineering research to generate both social impact and valuable, publishable academic knowledge. They will talk about exactly what “global engineering” means to them, how to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering team working on a global development challenge, and what a successful global engineering project looks like. The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

On-Campus Reminders

Thinking about heading to campus? Don't forget to log on to UCheck, the new U of T self-assessment tool, before you go. This new online tool will allow faculty members, librarians, staff, and students to generate a COVID-19 risk status by completing a quick and thorough self-assessment that is tailored to U of T. Anyone planning to go to campus needs to complete the self-assessment before their visit.

After completing your self-assessment don't forget to bring your mask! Non-medical masks or face coverings are to be worn indoors in all common-use spaces on University property, including study spaces and hallways.
