The pandemic meant that we had to put on some of our events virtually for the first time ever. Our first zoom was a bit nerve-racking beforehand, as we linked up with all of our many panellists from their individual homes, but it went really smoothly in the end. We actually found that panellists were more relaxed speaking from comfy sofas, and the questions that our audience put in the Q and A box were often really challenging – perhaps because they were anonymous. The downside was that parents couldn’t go up and chat to panellists more privately afterwards, and we couldn’t hand out as many of our cherished feedback forms as usual. But we definitely think there are some advantages to a ‘blended’ approach in the future.
