SPIRITUAL PRACTICES?

Last night Dr. Lemley blessed our youth group with an incredible lesson on the Prayer of Examine. Ask your kids what they learned! Tune into youth group next Wednesday October 21st at 7:00 PST! Matthew will be recapping the spiritual practices we have talked about so far in the series, and introduce the simple, yet profound practice of gratitude.

PRAYER OF EXAMINE

Dr. Lemley's lesson focussed on the prayer of examine. Here's a quick and easy resource for your teens (and your whole family) for engaging in this practice. 

1. Remember that God was with you all day long, and that God loved you all day long. Start with a foundation of God's closeness to you and care for you (Psalm 139:1-16)
2. Walk through your day in your memory. Notice what moments of the day stand out to you the most. Why? 
3. Were there any times that you noticed God was with you? 
4. How was God with you during the moments that stood out the most? 
5. Is there anything about your day you wish you'd done differently? Ask God for forgiveness, and remember that he's quick to offer it (John 1:5-10)
6. Give thanks for your day, and God's presence in it. 
7. Ask God to help you follow him more closely tomorrow. 

REFUEL THIS SUNDAY

Join us for REFUEL this Sunday at 9:15, LIVE on Zoom. This is a time to gather, catch up, and think about important things! Parents, you're welcome to join in, but use your own device if possible! This is open to the entire UCC family, but our Youth Group will be participating in its own break-out-room-discussion!


Afterwards, tune in to UCC zoom at 10:15 for worship! 

Additionally, AFTER CHURCH this Sunday, Matthew and the UCCYG team will be hanging out ON THIS LINK! TEENS, stop by and hang out with us. We want to hear about your life! Stay on as long as you want, this is simply a time to spend together without an agenda. 

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

HALLOWEEN PARTY OCT. 24

We had SO MUCH FUN seeing everyone at the Warwar's a few weeks ago that we want to do it again! The tentative plan is to have a Halloween party on Saturday evening, October 24th 6-8:30, at the Warwar barn, but we want to make sure people actually want to do this.

SO, PLEASE RSVP to the party no later than Monday, October 19th. If only a few people are interested in the party, we'll likely do something else. BUT, if we can get at least FOUR families on board, we'll be good to go. To give you a brief idea of what we're thinking: a classic Halloween movie, costumes, and of course some (or a lot of) candy. As far as food goes, we'll likely have pizza and root-beer floats (all served by someone wearing a mask and gloves). To help cover the cost, we're asking everyone to bring $5!
