DIVISION OF FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
From the desk of Chris Kinsley
October 15, 2020

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the COVID-19 Testing. I have had three (3) tests and expect to have at least three (3) more before year-end. We have done all we can do to make the testing as quick and painless as the state-of-the-art tests we are employing allows. If anyone selected for random testing has questions or concerns, please call me or send an e-mail.

Having been here a little over six (6) months, I continue to be impressed by what the College has to offer. I am working to recruit a few high school seniors, and hope each of you are also helping spread the word. Here are some highlights of recent activities and issues. ~ Chris

For Employees COVID-19: Annual Leave Carry Over

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has changed the way we live and work. This year has been unprecedented and the new "normal" is still to be determined. Everyone has played a pivotal role in reopening the campus and mitigating risk and exposure while enjoying limited leisure activities. While we recognize your commitment and dedication to the success of the college, we also recognize many have foregone taking time off. We encourage everyone to exercise a healthy work-life balance, and to support this goal we are extending the annual carryover maximum for employee’s class as of the last payroll cycle (current policy).

Employees who have not taken some or all of their annual leave entitlement due to COVID-19 will be able to carry over hours above the maximum. All hours over the maximum must be exhausted by June 30, 2021 (PR#14).

See chart below:
Classification Status Maximum Carryover Hours
Faculty 12 months Maximum carryover 352 hours
USPS (AFSCME) Hourly employees Maximum carryover 240 hours
A & P Salaried employees Maximum carryover 352 hours
Executive Salaried employees Maximum carryover 480 hours

DID YOU KNOW the College Police Department has notary publics onsite and are able to provide this service to students, staff and faculty free of charge?

RIDE THE BUS FOR FREE!

Students, faculty and staff can ride the MCAT and SCAT for free just by showing your New College ID! Due to COVID-19, transportation protocols have changed. Please consult the MCAT or SCAT website for the latest safety updates.

PARKING PERMITS

While the College has issued numerous parking permits since August, a review of data indicates that we still have some procrastinators out there. Registration is easy from the NCF Portal.

LIGHTING ISSUES

Facilities is working in conjunction with our new EHS/EM Director, Josef Shapiro, to identify areas where there are dark spots on campus. If there are areas you would like assessed, please contact Josef at JShapiro@ncf.edu. Look to see things "brighten up" in coming weeks.

EMAIL NAME CHANGE

At the request of several students, forms have been developed for name changes on email accounts. This includes a form for legal name changes, as well as simple first name preference changes. My thanks to the Information Technology and Application Development staff for working collaborately with the Registrar and Provost's Offices to make this important action happen.

You can access the form at:

MEAL PLAN CREDITS

We had hoped to get these out this week, but have run into a few snags - not unusual when doing something for the first time. Please know that we are working to resolve these issues, and will send out a new message when these are distributed.

SHOUT OUT TO . . .

Steve Moreau and Seni OK in Facilities - On Sunday, September 20, before 6:00 a.m., a 10" city water line ruptured 7 ft. below the ground between Z-Dorm and Sudakoff. Steve Moreau and Seni Ok came in early and stayed late on their day off. Steve stayed on the job and saw the project through for 16 straight hours! This is a great example of the NCF on-call staff going the extra mile!

Seni Ok also helped a student out of a jam on the Bayfront. Two students were enjoying the nice, but windy, weather when a gust blew a student's prescription glasses off the concrete pier and into the water. Seni came to the rescue, wading out into the Bay and retrieving the glasses. Way to go, Seni!
