We are so excited to be hosting Trunk or Treat. But to make this event happen we NEED YOU! It is going to take a large team of people donating candy and volunteering. Here's some frequently asked questions for more information:
Where and when will trunk or treat take place?
The entire event will take place in the Houlton Wesleyan parking lot outside from 5pm-7pm on October 31st. Families can arrive anytime between five and seven to get in line.
Will it be safe for guests and volunteers?
Yes, we are doing our very best to ensure events at Houlton Wesleyan Church are safe for everyone. We will be following the CDC social distancing guidelines and all volunteers will be wearing masks. The cars will be spaced a part more than 6 feet and there will only be one family at each vehicle at a time.
What volunteers are needed?
Trunks: We are in need of several people (or groups) who would like to use their vehicle to hand out candy. To make this more fun for the kids we are also having a trunk decorating contest! Pick a fun theme to decorate your vehicle and the best team/family will win a gift card to the Vault. If you do not want to participate in the decorating contest, you are still welcome to sign up your trunk and give out candy. Security Team: We need a crew of people to help us manage the crowd and keep everyone safe. Some specific roles include: registration, monitoring for a scary costume, answering questions, and letting our guests know what to do when they arrive.
Set-up: We need some people to help us get set up. This includes setting up pylons, tables, candy, signs, and more.
What time should I arrive?
If you are a “trunk”, please have your vehicle decorated and ready to go by 4:30pm. Some vehicles may take longer than others to be fully set up and decorated for the kids, so make sure you arrive with plenty of time to get everything done.
If you are helping us set-up, please arrive by 4pm.
If you are on the security & registration team, please arrive by 4:30pm.
Where can I donate candy?
We are in need of a LOT of candy for our Trunk or Treat event! You can bring your candy to the church throughout the week or on Sunday if you’re attending an in-person service. We would love for those who are handing out candy from their vehicle to have some candy as well.
