Schedule Updates and Bringing Students Back on Campus...

Last night, October 14th, our Board of Directors met and voted on a couple of important items that you need to be made aware of. First, they voted to make Wednesday instruction asynchronous during full instructional weeks. This means that any week where there are five full days of instruction, students will not have live courses on Wednesdays. Instead, they will view pre-recorded lessons on those days. The purpose of this change is to provide our teachers more time to prepare lessons and grade assignments. Online instruction has been incredibly demanding for them; requiring many teachers to work 60-80 hour weeks. The hope is that this small change will help give them some hours back into their schedule.

Secondly, the Board voted to start bringing students in grades K-2 back onto campus. Students in these grade levels will have the option to either continue with distance education or begin half-day in-person instruction on campus. The goal is to begin in-person instruction on October 26th. That date may get pushed  back depending on how difficult it is to rearrange schedules. To begin that process, we are attaching a survey below for our K-2 parents to complete ASAP to elect wether they would like to return to campus or continue with online education. We ask that our parent/guardians in K-2 click the button below and complete the survey prior to Monday, October 19.

The Board also voted to start bringing back more Special Education students and English Language Learners. Special Education Students will be selected to return based on the needs identified in their IEPs. English Language Learners will be invited to return for special tutoring blocks created to help them succeed. In each case, students and their parent/guardians will be contacted on an individual basis.

Depending on how things go with our K-2 students, it is our hope to be able to bring back additional grade levels as well. We are restrained in how many students we bring back, and we want to be safe, so we are beginning with K-2 and moving up from there.

Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,

Mr. Christensen
