SFDPH Releases Updated Guidelines for Businesses Using Outdoor Spaces

The Department of Public Health has issued some guidelines to support those building or upgrading spaces for outdoor businesses to understand how to maintain safe levels of air flow. These guidelines can be found here. These documents should be used as a companion to Shared Spaces Design Guidelines.

Please note that if you are having any issues or have questions about parklets to reach out to Laurie (laurie@ggra.org). We are hoping to have information on an extension of the Shared Spaces permits beyond the end of this year soon.

Reminder: New SF Dining Signage
Available for Download, Pickup, and Delivery

As you all know the Health Order and Guidance issued a couple weeks ago requires that indoor dining establishments add some new signage. It requires establishments to both:

  • Post a stand-alone sign bearing the message that: 1) COVID-19 is transmitted through the air, and the risk is much higher indoors, and (2) seniors and those with health risks should avoid indoor settings with crowds.
  • Post signage at tables reminding patrons to wear Face Coverings when interacting with staff (ordering or paying) and at all other times when they are not eating or drinking. Laminated versions of these tabletop signs are available at the command center & come in a smaller, postcard size (more details below).

Operators can download, pickup, or get the flyers delivered:

  • Download and print all flyers in multiple languages here. Find an additional indoor dining poster that covers the other signage requirements here
  • Signage Pickup: You can pick up materials at the Emergency Operations Center at Moscone South, 747 Howard St, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm.
  • Request Signage Delivery: The City can also deliver within San Francisco, Monday through Friday, 10 am to 3 pm.

You can request outreach material here or you can download and print the flyers here.

Dine Safe. Live Safe. Take the Pledge!

As San Francisco continues to work towards allowing more indoor dining, it is important that we all practice health and safety guidelines recommended by the Department of Public Health while at work and at home.

We need our workers, residents and customers to carry out safe practices not only while at restaurants, but also in their everyday lives in order to help to slow the spread of COVID19 and to allow us to continue to have indoor dining.

Take the Dine Safe Live Safe Pledge today! We need everyone’s help to ensure the dining culture that San Francisco is known for survives.
